When I was watching this movie the other day I had never realized how often I have to pause it from laughing. That’s when you know a movie is good, when you can’t watch it any further until you stop loving it. One of the best, if not the best, film of Billy Crystal’s career. Aging comedian Buddy Young, Jr. attempts a comeback while reminiscing about his show-biz beginnings and his glory days in the 1950s. Full of great one liners and even sad moments, if you are a fan of standup comedy, the way it should have stayed then you will love this movie.

I’ll never forget what my Uncle Moe said about little girls. He said, “Officer, she said she was 18!” – Buddy Young, Jr.

Synopsis: Comedian Billy Crystal made his directorial debut with this biography of fictional comedian Buddy Young Jr. (portrayed by Crystal himself), whose self-destructive tendencies prevent him from rising to top of the show business ladder during his five-decade career.

Country: USA
Genre: Comedy, Drama
Director: Billy Crystal
Writer: Billy Crystal
Cast: Billy Crystal, David Paymer, Helen Hunt
Domestic Total Gross: $13,351,357

Favorite scene: (not below) I will never forget the lashing Helen Hunt gets from Buddy in a scene where he’s just about had it with these young people who don’t know anything about comedy and or the history of it all, including his own life.  “Go take a shit with your pants on!”, priceless.
