A ‘Child’s Play’ Video Game Is Coming

Wednesday, October 12th, 2011

childs_play

We all know Chucky from the horror film franchise Child’s Play and that there hasn’t been any talk of a new movie coming out any time soon (it will be a prequel I’m sure), but a video game?  Sure I’ll take it.

Players will have the opportunity to play as the killer doll and experience his exploits first hand. True to the nature of the films, Chucky will use his full repertoire of stealth and guile to dispatch victims in a multitude of distinctive methods. In the end, it will be up to the player to decide how many (or few) people survive this stealth-action romp.

The game is being developed by TikGames which is an indie game studio, here’s the press release:

“We’re proud to be able to bring a fan-favorite movie character, such as Chucky, to gaming platforms,” said Alex Tikhman, Co-Founder and Vice President of Publishing for TikGames. “Fans have been asking for a Chuckygame for years and, soon, gamers around the world will be able to enjoy highly-entertaining, interactive, downright gory experiences with this brand.”

The title doesn’t appear on the company’s main site. It does appear on Tik’s Facebook page, so it’s at least real, we know that.  Shock Till You Drop has several photos of what Chucky looks like in the game.  Here’s an example.

Director Neil Burger (The Illusionist, Limitless) has signed on to write and direct the adaptation of the video game Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune reports Variety.  He replaces David O. Russell who we told you left the project back in May.

Burger impressed the studio and producers with his vision for the movie which is said to be much closer to the original games.  Mark Wahlberg was supposed to star as Drake, that may not hold up now under the new direction.  Russell also wanted Robert de Niro and Joe Pesci to play Drake’s father and uncle, it’s likely those parts don’t even exist anymore because they don’t in the game.

The third instalment in the video game series, Uncharted: Drake’s Deception hits stores on November 11th.

Jurassic Park The Game

Telltale Games, the folks behind the recent creation of the first good Back to the Future video game, are back with another movie title, Jurassic Park.  JP’s turn on the Sega as I recall wasn’t as botched as all the attempts at BTTF, but could still use a facelift with graphics and technology as its disposal.  It looks like they are picking up where Dennis Nedry’s Barbasol can full of dinosaur embryos left off, very clever.

In the game, players will meet and play as side characters both seen and referenced in the Steven Spielberg film while focusing more on the human element to Jurassic Park rather than just blasting away dinosaurs. Check out the first footage from the game, which will be released for PC, Mac and more in April. (more…)

The Back To The Future Game Trailer

This is our first look at Telltale’s upcoming Back to the Future series of 5 adventure games.  The trailer doesn’t show off any game play (I don’t think) but they packed in so many subtle nods to the series you know now that the people behind this are big fans.  They captured the spirit of the films with this one.  Here are some details from our first post on it. GameTrailers has put up a couple behind-the-scenes clips of Telltale Games‘ upcoming Back to the Future game, including a look at the new guy they got to voice Marty McFly; he sounds like a young Michael J. Fox.  Great casting here, there is also a clip of Christopher Lloyd commenting on his input – good to see him as Doc once more, and the game’s creative staff setting up the premise of Telltale’s game. WIN some FAIL some

Cutting right to the chase here to avoid taking up the spotlight, a few weeks back the District Attorney made a post [here] about the new Prince of Persia movie. This got me wondering; in the history of movies what were some of the worse adaptations around? Now, I know this sounds like an oxymoron because to be honest there are really (in the eyes of fan boys) no amazing adaptations out there. So let’s take a look at some WINS and FAILS.  Leave your own below and I will be sure to comment!

gyllenhaal is doing it wrong

Saturday, March 7th, 2009

The Huffington Post is running an article titled “Jake Gyllenhaal Shirtless In “Prince Of Persia” and go on to show two new images from the upcoming POP movie.  That about sums up what this movie has going for it.  It’s going to be ladies night at the Ciniplex with this one.  This is a Disney adaptation by the way.  Who had nothing to do with the games (awesome by the way) last time I checked, should be interesting to see how they pull this one off.  Prince of Persia: Sands of Time will hit theaters on May 28th 2010.
