Here’s a new trailer for the upcoming film Edge of Tomorrow starring Tom Cruise as a military officer who is killed within minutes of a doomed combat mission to take down a hive-like alien race. He wakes up and is forced to relive the day over and over again, allowing him to become a better soldier each time. It’s the Groundhog Day of sci-fi movies! The trailer shows a lot of action and finally some meat to the story which until now didn’t have me sold on this movie at all.
In the featurette, Blunt explains that her character once had the same ability, and while she eventually lost it, it allowed her to become a much better soldier. So maybe with all this becoming a better soldier message, the moral of the movie is going to be to keep on trying and you’ll become better at stuff. The same I learned how to ride a unicycle. No I didn’t.
The film opens in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on June 6th, and also stars Bill Paxton, Brendan Gleeson, Noah Taylor, Kick Gurry, Dragomir Mrsic, Charlotte Riely, Jonas Armstrong, Franz Drameh, Masayoshi Haneda, and Tony Way.

Here is the newest trailer for Edge of Tomorrow, based off a manga (All You Need Is Kill), the film stars Tom Cruise as Major William Cage who is killed within minutes of a doomed combat mission to take down an alien race. He wakes up and is forced to relive the day over and over again. But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski played by the lovely Emily Blunt. It sounds a lot like Source Code but with human MechWarriors, and hopefully a better ending.
The film also stars Bill Paxton, Laura Pulver, and Jeremy Piven. Edge of Tomorrow opens June 6th, watch the trailer below:
Edge of Tomorrow, previously known as All You Need is Kill (what’s with Hollywood hating on unique titles?) has had its first trailer released and…it’s not bad. I think I was expecting something more generic and actiony, but this trailer gives the impression we might be in for some mystery and decent sci-fi as well. I suppose it all comes down to your opinion on Tom Cruise in the end though.
Tom plays a member of the future military who is killed immediately yet wakes up and begins living the same day over and over again. He meets up with Emily Blunt who seems to know what’s going on and together…they just might change their fate. Cue the dramatic music.

Its mission, if they accept it, is to take Star Wars: Episode VII down from the number one spot at the box office on Christmas Day 2015. It’s true, Director Christopher McQuarrie (Jack Reacher) and Tom Cruise have set Mission: Impossible 5 to open a week after Star Wars. [The Wrap]
I enjoyed the last Mission; it was certainly a reclaim of the franchise. Let’s hope they continue to impress with a fifth installment. Cruise will return to play Ethan Hunt; Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton and Simon Pegg are rumored to return but no official announcements have been made.
FYI: MI4 was Brad Bird’s live-action directorial debut.
You may have heard on our Facebook page yesterday that there is another Mission Impossible on the way, more Tom Cruise baby! Brad Bird’s highly entertaining MI: Ghost Protocol gave new life to the franchise so it’s no surprise really. [Guardian]
There’s no official word on who will be writing and/or directing the next installment, but Cruise’s Jack Reacher writer/director Christopher McQuarrie is supposedly in line. Whoever it is, they will develop the film with Cruise and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot.
It’s being called a science fiction epic and Tom Cruise is unsurprisingly great in it, it’s the film Oblivion and it’s finally opening this weekend after hitting some highs overseas ($60+ million so far). The movie looks to have some great effects; I have no idea what’s going on but I like to look at it. That can’t be a way to sell a movie but it seems to be working. Also, did anyone else catch the Darth Vader looking dude [pic here] in the trailer? I’m going to find out what that’s about.
