For Halloween video editor Kees Van Dijkhuizen[see past posts] has created a montage showcasing the films of Tim Burton. As he puts it:
Tim Burton is one of those filmmakers who tells stories unlike anyone else. Whether it’s about an alien invasion, the worst director of all time or a bride risen from the dead, Burton’s films are filled with unique and iconic characters and visuals that make his films unforgettable.

Danny Elfman has made some of the finest movie scores of all time, and most of the time it comes with collaborating with Tim Burton. Warner Bros. has just announced an amazing 16 CD limited-edition box set that celebrates their 25 years of doing music together. It’s a mental price of $500, but fun to imagine having it anyways. There are only 1,000 copies (sure there are) and is on pre-sale here. Highlights: (more…)

Why so serious?
Note To Hollywood: Michael Keaton would do another Beetlejuice movie. Talking to Moviehole about Toy Story 3, Keaton, says he would make a sequel “in a heartbeat…that’s the one thing I’d love to do again.”
Beetlejuice is such a great character and Keaton deserves all of the credit for bringing him to life on the screen. That performance was Oscar worthy. Last month, Geena Davis (who also starred in Speechless with Keaton) said she’d love to do a sequel, and it was even discussed pretty seriously about 15 years ago, to the point that a script was even written. And since Tim Burton is into remakes these days, I am sure he is game.

The year was 1994. Kevin Smith took Sundance and Cannes by storm with his low budget and highly intellectual comedy Clerks. Miramax took on the film and it was smooth sailing from there. Awards and praise for the film and filmmaker with future rankings such as “number 34 on Bravo’s 100 Funniest Movies” [list]. It has since spawned comics, toys, a sequel and millions of fanboys for Kevin Smith. This film ranks high for me and has the privilege above all other Kevin Smith films as being his best work with Chasing Amy coming in at a strong second.
