Tom Hanks and Tim Allen Together Again For Disney’s ‘Jungle Cruise’

Another theme ride is coming to life, and it’s going to take Woody and Buzz to make it interesting. It worked with Pirates of the Caribbean thanks to Johnny Depp and company, and now Tom Hanks and Tim Allen will take the plunge with Jungle Cruise. Can their animated chemistry work in a live-action film? Disney thinks so:

The Walt Disney Studios is excited to be in development with Mandeville Films and writer Roger S.H. Schulman on a feature film based on the Jungle Cruise, one of the most iconic attractions in Disney theme park history. The film will pair up Tim Allen and Tom Hanks in their first live-action project, after their previous collaborations in the Toy Story trilogy.

From what I’m told of the ride, Jungle Cruise is a leisurely ride along a lagoon with some animatronic animals. Here’s the description of the ride from the Disney site. [Source: Deadline]

Tim Allen is Douglas Fir in the new Disney movie Arbor Daze…not really. Funny or Die has become one of the top destinations where TV and movie stars can go to make fun of themselves. Tim Allen spoofs himself and Disney films in general with this trailer that may seem all too familiar. My favorite FOD video? Christopher Lloyd as scary Willy Wonka murdering teenagers, right here.

Buzz beats Woody again! In this teaser it seems the whole gang is back from Wallace Shawn’s almost-inconceivable Rex the Green Dinosaur, to John Ratzenberger’s lazy Hamm the Piggy Bank to Joan Cusack’s wild Jessie and Don Rickles’ back-breaking Mr. Potato Head. Unfortunately, this is all we’ll get for a little while, the full trailer is supposed to premiere in October during that special double-billing of Toy Story and Toy Story 2 in 3D. Toy Story 3 is slated to hit screens on June 18, 2010.
