The first trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is here!  Peter Parker continues to adjust to his crime fighting life as Spider-Man and relationship with Gwen Stacy while dealing with new enemies, the return of his old friend Harry Osborn, and discovering more about his past.

Blink and you might miss Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus’ arms and Vulture wings.  What is happening here!?  Will it be another cluster of poor story telling around too many baddies?

Directed by Mark Webb, the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man will have Andrew Garfield reprising the role of Peter Parker, who’s keeping busy fighting crime as Spider-Man while juggling his personal commitments, including spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone) — against the wishes of her late father, we might point out — and anticipating his high school graduation. Jamie Foxx will play the role of Electro in the film, while up-and-comer Dane DeHaan fills James Franco’s shoes as the new Harry Osborn. Also among the cast are Chris Cooper, Paul Giamatti and Sally Field.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is scheduled to be released in 2D and 3D on May 2, 2014.

FYI: On June 17, 2013, Sony announced two more sequels to follow The Amazing Spider-Man 2 with the third film getting the release date of June 10, 2016, and the fourth film on May 4, 2018

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Synopsis, Paul Giamatti and Colm Feore Confirmed

Friday, February 8th, 2013

Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has started production in New York.  There’s a full press release that reveals the first official synopsis below.  There was rumor that Paul Giamatti was in talks to join the production, he is confirmed here but with no set role.

Columbia Pictures announced today that filming has begun on The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2 in New York. The film is the first in the history of the franchise that will be filmed entirely in New York City and New York State.

The sequel to last year’s critical and box office hit The Amazing Spider-Man, the film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Shailene Woodley, Dane DeHaan, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti, and Sally Field.

In The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set for release in 3D on May 2, 2014.

The Amazing Spider-Man (opened July 3) – RT (73%) – CoF

Spider-Man 2 is one of the greatest superhero movies ever made.  I’ll gladly debate that with anyone.  I don’t expect The Amazing Spider-Man to wow me, but it has a lot going for it, namely the ability to erase damage done from Spider-Man 3.  Andrew Garfield is great, Emma Stone and Dennis Leary are there too – it could be watchable.  How’s that for a poster tagline? “It could be watchable” –

SavagesRT (52%) – CoF

Welcome back Oliver Stone, word has it you made another dark and brutal movie again, good for you.  Also love the bad guys vs. bad guys set up, it’s going to be bloody.  Preachy too I bet; Stone fights the war on drugs through his work sometimes if you hadn’t noticed.

Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D (July 5) – RT (78%) – CoF

She annoys me; I’m just going to put that out there right away.  I don’t enjoy her voice, music, and in interviews she’s insufferable; always trying to be funny when it’s not called for.  We get it, men like tight dresses.

If you’re tired of the onslaught of Avengers media happening right now, here’s a new trailer for another huge movie coming this summer, The Amazing Spider-Man.  I’m not that big into The Avengers and will likely pass it over when it’s released, but Spider-Man has a lot of promise and is something I’m pretty excited about.
