You might recall that whole Tonight Show battle between NBC and Conan O’Brien from a few months ago, if not – CoCo won. An agreement was made stating that Conan could not publicly disparage NBC nor appear on television for about six months, O’Brien is finally ready to make the return to late night. TBS has just announced that Conan’s new show will premiere on the station on November 8th, 2010 at 11 PM. It will be followed by Lopez Tonight.
It should be interesting to see what people make of the new show and I am sure they will go on to compare the numbers between the late night shows across TV land. Will it be fair to compare? Cable numbers are much different from Network numbers is what I am getting at. Yeah, uninteresting – my thoughts too. Jump for a very short TBS promo. (more…)

Monday, April 12th, 2010
Well this is surprising. We might be the last site to report the news that Conan O’Brien is coming back to TV this November (I was in a Dentist chair). Joe Adalian at TheWrap.com (and Conan himself on Twitter) confirm that he’s going to do a late night show on TBS (the same network that brings us 9 episodes of Friends a day). Everyone was thinking FOX and now it’s TBS, which does seem like a big change. There comes many perks with this move, it being not such a big network would give him more room to stretch those comedic skills and get away with more; less pressure for sure not being on a bigger name network.
“In three months I’ve gone from network television to Twitter to performing live in theaters and now I’m headed to basic cable…my plan is working perfectly.”
O’Brien’s show will be followed on TBS’ schedule by George Lopez’s Lopez Tonight, which will move to midnight. And before people start talking about how Conan got his way and Lopez got moved…Sources tell TMZ the idea of bringing Conan to TBS was hatched by Turner’s entertainment chief Steve Koonin. We’re told Koonin went to George Lopez and said he would only approach Conan if George gave his blessing. We’re told George immediately figured out that having Conan as an 11:00 PM lead-in would be nothing short of amazing for a midnight show. More CoCo and video, click on…
