Number 5 is alive! Tim Hill To Direct The Reboot of Short Circuit

Tim Hill (Hop, Alvin and the Chipmunks) has signed on to direct a reboot of Short Circuit for Dimension Films Deadline reports.  The 1986 story as we all remember is about an an experimental robot manufactured to be a weapon until a lightning strike fills it with intelligence. It runs away and befriends a family.  Normal.

Hill is being brought in to oversee a fresh take on the script that was written back in 2009, David Foster, who produced the original, is producing the reboot.

So what’s next?  A Mac and Me remake?  I’ll take it.  Will Steve Guttenberg return?  If the Stonecutters have anything to say about it he will.  Will Number 5 be CGI?  Most definitely.
