giant-killer

The first trailer for Bryan Singer’s Jack the Giant Killer is here; based on the classic tale, the story follows an ancient war that’s reignited when a young boy unknowingly opens a gate between the world of the humans and the world of the giants.  I hadn’t heard anything of this movie until now, and I can’t say I’m fully looking forward to it.  The trailer is more or less a teaser of sorts, as we don’t fully see one of these “giants”, but you certainly get the idea.  There’s just too many “classic tales” getting the movie treatment these days.

the-hunger-games

Here’s the first full length trailer for the adaptation of The Hunger Games, the first novel in Suzanne Collins’ futuristic story about teenagers chosen by lottery to fight to the death as representatives of their local district. Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth are the young leads in the film.  You will have to excuse me from my lack of knowledge on just what The Hunger Games is.  I had never heard of it until a few months back when MTV had a fit over the upcoming movie because of some image of a girl with a bow and arrow.  That might mean a lot more to you guys, but it all felt like another tween franchise is headed our way.

Set in a future where the Capitol selects a boy and girl from the twelve districts to fight to the death on live television, Katniss Everdeen volunteers to take her younger sister’s place for the latest match.

The Hunger Games will be released on March 23, watch the trailer below:

margincall

Here is the theatrical trailer for Margin Call with a cast that may be more impressive than the movie itself.  It looks like it may have done more as an HBO movie, but that could just be me not finding this story worthy of a feature film.  The cast includes Zachary Quinto, Kevin Spacey, Michael Nardelli, Carla Gugino and Stanley Tucci.

The key players at an investment firm become entangled during one perilous 24-hour period in the early stages of the 2008 financial crisis. When entry-level analyst Peter Sullivan unlocks information that could prove to be the downfall of the firm, a roller-coaster ride ensues as decisions both financial and moral catapult the lives of all involved to the brink of disaster.

The film comes out limited release on October 21st 2011, check out the trailer:

Captain-america

Click to size.

Here’s the latest poster for Captain America: The First Avenger along with what’s been called the final trailer for the film.  I haven’t seen nearly as much hype for this one as I did for Green Lantern, and that’s a great thing.  Captain America: The First Avenger will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America.  Tommy Lee Jones is also involved, so that’s awesome.

The film also stars Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, Stanley Tucci and Hugo Weaving. Captain America: The First Avenger opens in 3D on July 22, 2011.

captain america

Well it has Tommy Lee Jones, the kids still like him right?  There are just too many of these movies coming out this year, my interest in comic book film is at an all time low.  The trailer here does a nice job though, but I have a feeling this movie will be all set up for a better sequel with all the origin story out of the way…that being said, Iron Man 2 sucked.  So don’t listen to me, here’s the trailer:

Captain America: The First Avenger stars Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, Stanley Tucci, Tommy Lee Jones, and Hugo Weaving.  It opens in 3D on July 22, 2011.  Trailer: (more…)
