liam-neeson-updates

Liam Neeson will find you, don’t worry about that.  He is also finding his way back to dramatic roles as Deadline reports that Neeson has joined the cast of Martin Scorsese’s next film Silence, reuniting for the first time since they worked together on Gangs of New York. Silence as you may have heard has been a passion project of Scorsese’s for decades, and his adaptation of the Shusaku Endo novel is finally going in front of cameras this summer.

The story takes place in the 17th century and follows a group of missionaries sent to Japan in order to investigate the reported torturing of Christians by the country’s emperor.  Andrew Garfield is set to play one of the priests, with Girls star Adam Driver reportedly signed on to play the other. Ken Watanabe is also part of the cast, which will be mostly made up of Japanese actors.

Liam Neeson gave an update on the Taken series, he will return for a third installment (for a reported $20 million paycheck) and guess what else goes his way?  The plot:

They called me up and I said I’ll do it… but only as long as nobody gets Taken.

Taken 3 doesn’t go into production until later this year, it will be interesting to see what’s happening in this entry; the title will be a little misleading if no one is to be “taken”.  Series star Maggie Grace is also expected to return and recent report also had Forest Whitaker in talks to join in an unspecified role.

Neeson isn’t resting anytime soon, he can be heard in The Lego Movie next weekend, and will be seen in the thriller Non-Stop later this month. This May, he’ll star in Seth MacFarlane’s Western comedy, A Million Ways to Die in the West.

Director Martin Scorsese’s passion project Silence is finally going to happen.  The adaptation of the Shusaku Endo novel has been talked about for about 15 years, and now after completing The Wolf of Wall Street (with Leonardo DiCaprio) Deadline reports that financing for Silence has been secured.

Written by Scorsese and Jay Cocks, the story takes place in the 17th century and follows a group of missionaries sent to Japan in order to investigate the reported torturing of Christians by the country’s emperor.

The plan is for filming to begin in Taiwan in July 2014.

The Boardwalk Empire season finale is this coming Sunday, here is the “To the Lost” promo, and it’s excellent.  It’s been a very compelling season; a slow boil much like the first season with payoffs here and there.  I’d like to think the season finale will be a stunner, you with me?  Watch the promo:
