harmony

I’m old enough to bleed, I’m old enough to breed, I’m old enough to crack a brick in your teeth while you sleep.

Well I learned something today; Die Antwoord is a “rap-rave” group from Cape Town, South Africa who recently teamed up with writer/director Harmony Korine (Kids, Gummo).  They’ve produced a heart-warming short film, Umshini Wam.

Korine’s sixteen-minute short brings the audience to the fringes of society where Ninja and Yo Landi of Die Antwoord star as wheelchair-bound gangsters. Residing in the outskirts of civilization, Ninja and Yo Landi play trigger-happy, gun-toting misfits who bond throughout the film by sharing cartoonishly huge joints, sticking-up business owners, and seeking refuge and shelter in the woods. It is a tale of love and the struggle for survival.

Watch the movie below, and here is a music video from Die Antwoord for ‘Ritch Bitch’ (more…)

arcade fire

Arcade Fire is one of the best bands in the world, if you don’t know this; there are three albums I can recommend for further proof. The latest being The Suburbs, which I haven’t been able to stop listening to for weeks.

On August 30, 2010, an interactive video was released for “We Used to Wait” at http://www.thewildernessdowntown.com, designed in conjunction with Google Chrome, which makes use of Google Maps and Google Street View.  The experience begins with the viewer entering in their childhood address and goes on to incorporate drawing a picture and writing a letter. It’s all pretty crazy and something I have never seen before.  Close other windows and tabs and have fun, you can even share the short film you created with friends.
