It’s been long discussed, and seemingly in pre-production hell for years – but it’s coming! Jurassic Park IV will arrive in the summer of 2015, and with a new name. The next installment in the popular prehistoric blockbuster series will be titled Jurassic World. The name doesn’t upset me – so that’s good.
Details at this point are sketchy, but Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) is slated to direct. Stay tuned for more details, as I am almost as eager to report news on this as Kevin is to talk about Vin Diesel and the Riddick franchise.
What had seemed like a rumor for the better part of a decade now feels even more real with the naming of a director. Colin Trevorrow, director of the low budget flick Safety Not Guaranteed, has signed on to direct the upcoming blockbuster. Steven Spielberg will be the executive producer. And I will be there opening night, because I love me some dinosaur movies!
Jurassic Park IV will be shot in 3D and released on June 13, 2014.
Welcome to The CoF Weekend Preview, here is a look at what’s opening this weekend and don’t forget to check out the City of Films SUMMER MOVIE GUIDE so you can plan your summer movie experience. See you here Monday for a new City Strip.
It’s finally here, this will please Kevin. I’m also looking forward to this film, it’s not really a sequel, and not quite a prequel…but it’s got common threads to the Alien franchise. Or is it just Alien and not Aliens? Oh hell, it looks awesome anyways. It was filmed entirely with 3D cameras so hopefully it won’t look like post conversion garbage the likes of which people who watched Clash of the Titans can tell you about. Did I mention Charlize Theron is in it?
I really didn’t know they made a sequel to this movie, but here we are on sequel #2. I don’t think they need to advertise the actors who are doing voices for these movies; kids love this stuff no matter what. Just say what it is: Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Gloria the Hippo, and Melman the Giraffe doing crazy stuff like talking and handling things without opposable thumbs!
In the movie Aubrey Plaza is a magazine intern who goes undercover to investigate Mark Duplass who placed an ad looking for a time-traveling partner. The script is based on a classified ad that turned into an Internet meme and was originally featured on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in the “Headlines” segment.
Safety Not Guaranteed opens June 8th, watch the trailer below:
FYI: Time travel to the past is called retrocognition which simply means “knowledge about the past.”
