Fireflies

Here’s a trailer for writer/director Dennis Lee’s Fireflies in the Garden starring Ryan Reynolds, Willem Dafoe, Julia Roberts, Emily Watson, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Hayden Panettiere.  Oddly enough the movie was finished in 2008 and is only now getting a fall release here after it premiered at the 2008 Berlin International Film Festival.  Is the final product that bad?  The trailer makes it look like a decent drama; the tension is certainly there between Dafoe and Reynolds.

Fireflies in the Garden is set in the present day, and revolves around three generations of a family, with flash-backs to their growing up. A major focus is on domineering father Charles (Willem Dafoe) and his strained relationships with son Michael (young: Cayden Boyd; adult: Ryan Reynolds), sister-in-law Jane (young: Hayden Panettiere; adult: Emily Watson) and other family members.

Fireflies in the Garden will open to select markets on October 14th. Here’s the trailer:

change-up

Here is a red band trailer for The Change-Up starring Jason Bateman [see Ryan's Horrible Bosses Review, shameless] and Ryan Reynolds.  I’m not too excited for this one, but it is nice to see an adult ‘switch’ movie.  Remember Freaky Friday?  So we be happy for that I guess.  Since you asked, my favorite body swap movies are Big and Vice Versa.

Check out the trailer below and share your thoughts, it’s  set to be released on August 5th 2011.

green lantern

Warner Bros has released the full movie trailer for Martin Campbell‘s (Goldeneye, Casino Royale) adaptation of DC Comics’ Green Lantern starring Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard and Tim Robbins.

I appreciate the comic book feel from the trailer, with a lot of films taking a darker tone after the Batman franchise changed the game this movie seems to be embracing the cheese. The effects don’t look finished (I hope) but the film isn’t out until summer 2011, so there’s time.

International Movie Trailer: Buried

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

The first teaser trailer for Buried really captured my interest, it looks likes it going a great little suspense tale.  I am fearful that they only thought as far as the climax and then we are going to get a bullshit ending (any thriller in the last decade or so).  The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to critical and audience acclaim, sparking a multi-studio bidding war. The story follows a private contractor who is kidnapped in Iraq and buried alive. He has 90 minutes of air left until he dies, and has access to only a phone and a lighter.

The entire movie takes place in the coffin, with Ryan Reynolds providing the only on screen performance.  Buried will be released in select theaters on September 24th 2010 and will expand nationwide on October 8th 2010. (more…)

Buried

Now that's what I call a sticky situation!

We got the new trailer for Buried and just like the previous teaser for the film, it’s pretty great. The film stars Ryan Reynolds as a man who finds himself waking up in a coffin that’s been buried six feet underground with no idea of who put him there and why. The film has been gaining a lot of buzz ever since it premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival.  It should be interesting if they continue on this marketing campaign as it’s pretty well known for those who follow this sort of thing, that the movie really only takes place in the box.  How will people handle that?  Hitchcock would be proud to make his audience sense claustrophobia.  Buried opens in select theaters September 24th and nationwide October 8th. Trailer: Buried (2010)

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

Here is the first teaser trailer for the Ryan Reynolds thriller Buried. The independent film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to critical and audience acclaim, sparking a studio bidding war.  The story follows a private contractor who is kidnapped in Iraq and buried alive. He has 90 minutes of air left until he dies, and has access to only a phone and a lighter. The entire movie takes place in the coffin, with Ryan Reynolds providing the only on screen performance.

This reminds me of one of the best scenes ever, Kill Bill Vol. 2  (see after the jump) – but saying that, I’m sure it’s been done a lot more.  Watch the trailer embedded after the jump, and please leave your thoughts below.
