Little Fockers

The Meet the Parents franchise comes to an end (so they say) with the third installment, Little Fockers.  For me this franchise is something to watch that won’t leave me feeling any worse than when I came in, kinda like Father of the Bride with Steve Martin.  The films cast that includes Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Jessica Alba, Laura Dern, Harvey Keitel and Barbra Streisand.  NOTE: IMDB says Raven-Symoné and  Dustin Hoffman star as well; a test screening was held last week and sources say they are both nowhere to be seen.

Robert Rodriguez has released a special Cinco de Mayo message to Arizona in the form of the new trailer for his movie Machete.  The film stars Danny Trejo, Robert De Niro, Michelle Rodriguez, Lindsay Lohan, Cheech Marin, Jeff Fahey, Don Johnson, Steven Seagal and Jessica Alba.

The trailer features a special “Cinco De Mayo message for Arizona”, a political story which has been making headlines recently, but is actually a big part of this film which was shot a year ago.  Rodriguez wrote the script and co-directed the movie with his longtime editor Ethan Maniquis. The action-exploitation film follows Danny Trejo as a badass Mexican out to mess with The Man. The film opens September 3rd 2010. (more…)

Martin Scorsese
More talk of De Niro and Scorsese working together, this time it sounds like it might even happen.  After Martin Scorsese finishes The Invention of Hugo Cabret and Silence there has been talk of finally making The Irishman, which would reunite the pair.

The Irishman is based on the book I Heard You Paint Houses, which is about Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran, a mob assassin who is believed to have carried out more than 25 mob murders, and claimed to have killed Jimmy Hoffa.  Should the movie actually go forward as planned, Robert De Niro suggest the film will have a Fellini-esque feel.  MTV spoke with De Niro for Tribeca Film Festival (which the actor co-founded) and said a few things: (more…)

Scorsese and De Niro to re-team for mob movie

Monday, February 15th, 2010

We might have picked the best time ever to do Scorsese week, the news coming out of Reuters is that Martin Scorsese and Robert Di Niro are planning to re-team once again on a new project that will take place in the mobster world, a world that these two talents are very familiar with. Scorsese recently revealed in a interview”

“Bob De Niro (and I) are talking about something that has to do with that world. There’s no doubt about that. We’re working on something like that, but it’s from the vantage point of older men looking back, none of this running around stuff.”

These two have made some of the best films of all time; Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Cape Fear and the last movie the worked together on was Casino in 1995.  I heard De Niro say in an interview once that they don’t always have to discuss a shot because they are so in tune with one another.  That or Scorsese is scared of De Niro like everyone else.
