Trailer For Steven Soderbergh’s Stripper Movie MAGIC MIKE Starring Channing Tatum

Here is the first trailer for Steven Soderbergh’s Magic Mike which is said to be based on Channing Tatum’s early days as a male stripper.  The film follows Tatum as he takes a young dancer under his wing and schools him in the fine arts of partying, picking up women, and making easy money.

This could have easily been a movie with a female lead or some 3D dance movie, but that story has been done many times.  It seems like an odd choice for a director of Soderbergh’s caliber, but that should actually help the predictable story gain some ground.  It could be fun in a “well at least it’s better than Burlesque” kind of way.

Watch the trailer below, Magic Mike opens  June 29th.
