rickyseatsIn September 2001, following the success of The Office, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant returned to Xfm Radio for a Saturday afternoon radio show. One of the features on show was Ricky’s Film Reviews; he only did a few which you can listen to below.

They are obviously satirical, so don’t expect anything but laughs.

Ricky Gervais Week II: An Introduction

Monday, June 20th, 2011

gervaisOn Monday July 9, 2001, if you tuned into the BBC, you witnessed history. You watched the pilot of The Office that was written and directed by Ricky Gervais and his long time collaborator Stephen Merchant. The show is about to celebrate its 10th anniversary and Gervais will turn 50 on June 25th.
To celebrate, we are dedicating this week to our hero of comedy with our second annual Ricky Gervais Week. We will hopefully be reminding fans of Gervais why they’re fans in the first place, while making new fans out of non-believers.

Ricky Gervais is perhaps the most influential British comedian ever; he’s certainly an influence in my life. His body of work covers just about everything an inspiring writer and or comedian could hope to achieve. From his days on XFM Radio to sell out stand up tours, Gervais is an icon.
The Office is the most critically acclaimed sitcom of all time becoming the first British comedy to win a Golden Globe. Ricky Gervais has won three Golden Globes, two Primetime Emmys, and seven BAFTAS.

His Fame tour became the fastest selling UK stand up show in history selling 100,000 tickets in 9 minutes. Continue Reading…

The City Strip # 60 – Wet Dreams

Monday, June 20th, 2011

citystripgangHere we are then; another City Strip is here to fill the void in our Monday. Sixty, can you believe it? Kevin’s broken wrists can. Speaking of whom, Kevin joined me on The City of Films Show (listen to it here) and made quite the impression on our readers/listeners. One gentleman sent along some feedback: “Kevin, dude…best Muppet voice ever!” I kid I kid…we don’t have listeners.

In honor of Ricky Gervais Week, see the two comics where he appeared…sort of.  Someday Ricky, someday.

muppetsNo more parody trailers, this is the real deal.  They spoofed romantic comedies and Green Lantern, but now The Muppets have their own feature trailer, and the whole gang is here.  Written by Muppets fan Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller, the Muppets return to the movies to raise $10 milllion to save the Muppet Theater.

There will be cameos galore (some we don’t even know about yet) that include Zach Galifianakis, Ricky Gervais, Neil Patrick Harris, Emily Blunt, Billy Crystal, and Jack Black

The Muppets opens on November 23.  Watch the trailer after the break; we also included the full synopsis.  What do you guys think?  Can The Muppets comeback?

One of the best TV shows of all time is returning, and it’s looking great as usual.  Curb Your Enthusiasm comes to New York and we have a short behind the scenes look to get you excited.  In the eighth season of the hit HBO series we see guest stars Ricky Gervais, Michael J. Fox and Rosie O’Donnell making appearances as well as the always welcome J.B. Smoove as Leon.  Note: There was another teaser floating around the net this week but HBO has since taken it away, so this one which I hadn’t seen before might be a rerun for some.

Check it out Sunday, July 10, at 10 pm.
