Here is your first glimpse of what Ricky Gervais and Steve Merchant have in store for Karl Pilkington in series 2 of An Idiot Abroad, it’s going to be great. American Horror Story premieres on FX this October from creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. If Murphy’s track record means anything, a lot of people will hate this show and a lot of people will pretend they hate this show (see Glee).

I really hope people keep in mind when watching these promos and trailers for Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s upcoming comedy Life’s Too Short, that it’s just that…comedy. I’ve seen comments on others sites saying that Ricky is mean for what he says and does to Warwick Davis – who is a 41 year old man who helped create and stars in the show. I think he’s in on it if you ask me. The Internet kids, when will they learn? [see Ricky Gervais with Elmo and Warwick Davis]
Life’s Too Short created and written by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, and is described by Gervais as being about “the life of a showbiz dwarf”, with Warwick Davis playing a fictionalised version of himself. How can it get better than that?

Ricky Gervais is teaming up with former Dexter producer, Clyde Phillips, for a new show called Afterlife, “about an atheist who dies and goes to heaven” says Entertainment Weekly. They are writing the pilot episode now and plan to film in 2012.
Ricky talked about it on his blog saying: Dexter has consistently been my favourite show of the last 5 years. When I first saw Clyde’s name all over it I knew I had to work with him one day. I found out he was also a fan of my work and we became friends on email and through short conversations on various red carpets. We finally started working on an idea this year and we really hit it off. I am so exited about this project.
Gervais is currently working with Stephen Merchant on the Warwick Davis-starring comedy series Life’s Too Short, which will air this fall. Watch the teaser here.

Raise your hands in the air, and wave them like you're just not concerned.
Welcome to The CoF Weekend Preview where we take a look at what’s going on this weekend in entertainment. Check back Sunday night for the Box Office Report and return Monday for The City Strip. Don’t forget to check out the CoF Summer Movie Guide 2011 for what else is coming soon to theaters. The City of Films Show Episode 3 is happening next week, check out the previous episodes here.
Horrible Bosses – IMDB – RT (76%)
Sadly I have a feeling that this great looking movie [trailer here and here] isn’t going to fair too well up against the returning robots and Kevin James falling all over the place. Still, strong word of mouth and images like this one won’t hurt business in the long run.
Zookeeper – IMDB – RT (15%)
Go see Horrible Bosses.
Other:
Curb Your Enthusiasm – (HBO, Sunday) – The Season 8 premiere.
Speaking of bosses, the Office UK edition is celebrating 10 years, we did our part with Ricky Gervais Week II but here is a classic scene below with a retrospective with Gervais and Stephen Merchant. Best boss ever.

Ricky Gervais has said that The Simpsons is the best TV show of all time, a sediment I’d have to agree with. It didn’t take long for Matt Groening to extend an invitation to Gervais after many of the creators and writers found they shared a love for The Office – saying: “Everybody on The Simpsons is a fan of The Office – it’s one of the best shows on TV in the last decade.”
Ricky Gervais went on to write and star in The Simpsons episode “Homer Simpson, This Is Your Wife” voicing the character Charles Heathbar [see video below]. He guest starred as himself in the Season 22 episode “Angry Dad – The Movie“. A 2008 article [here], Entertainment Weekly named Gervais one of the sixteen best Simpsons guest stars.
Before the episode air, Gervais did an interview with Entertainment Weekly, where he picks his favorite episodes! The man knows his stuff:

The TV event of the year for me is the upcoming BBC2/HBO television series Life’s Too Short created and written by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, and is described by Gervais as being about “the life of a showbiz dwarf”, with Warwick Davis playing a fictionalised version of himself. How can it get better than that?
Gervais has told reporters: “I’d been thinking about doing something with a midget since seeing The Wizard of Oz again a few years ago. Then we met Warwick during Extras. The real Warwick tells us these great stories. They’re comedy gold.” Stephen Merchant commented of Davis that “he helped create the idea and came to us with the story.” [see Ricky Gervais with Elmo and Warwick Davis]
Gervais described it as “A cross between Extras and Curb your Enthusiasm and One Foot in the Grave but with a dwarf. That is out and out funny.”
Warwick is playing a twisted version of himself. He’s quite conceited and arrogant and manipulative. And he runs a [small person] talent agency, which he does in real life. Davis said that his character is egotistical and suffers from small man syndrome, while Gervais said of the character “he refuses to live his life as a disabled person. We’re making him empowered but also give him these foibles”.

On Monday July 9, 2001, if you tuned into the BBC, you witnessed history. You watched the pilot of The Office that was written and directed by Ricky Gervais and his long time collaborator Stephen Merchant. The show is about to celebrate its 10th anniversary and Gervais will turn 50 on June 25th.
To celebrate, we are dedicating this week to our hero of comedy with our second annual Ricky Gervais Week. We will hopefully be reminding fans of Gervais why they’re fans in the first place, while making new fans out of non-believers.
Ricky Gervais is perhaps the most influential British comedian ever; he’s certainly an influence in my life. His body of work covers just about everything an inspiring writer and or comedian could hope to achieve. From his days on XFM Radio to sell out stand up tours, Gervais is an icon.
The Office is the most critically acclaimed sitcom of all time becoming the first British comedy to win a Golden Globe. Ricky Gervais has won three Golden Globes, two Primetime Emmys, and seven BAFTAS.
His Fame tour became the fastest selling UK stand up show in history selling 100,000 tickets in 9 minutes. Continue Reading…
