RadioTimes is reporting that our hero Ricky Gervais plans to film a behind-the-scenes TV show about the former boss/entertainer of the Slough paper firm at Wernham Hogg and and his fictional Foregone Conclusion. They are doing a series of live gigs in May and Gervais tells the Sunday Times that the “music side” of the Brent tour is really a “Trojan Horse” for the new TV idea.
“It’s just an idea,” he adds. “I want to do a tour, a little tour – and people think they’re seeing a tour. I film it, but actually it’s Brent who thinks he’s making a Scorsese-type thing of [classic Jack Kerouac Beat novel] On The Road.
“Of course, behind the scenes, it is so much sadder and more poignant. It’s Spinal Tap meets sad Scorsese meets [Canadian heavy metal band] Anvil. It’s more of the breakdown of this man who thought he was going to be something else.”
“That will be on Netflix,” he adds. “Or HBO. Or the BBC”.
Gervais explained why he waited this long to bring Brent back to the small screen:
“The reason I didn’t bring Brent back before is that I wanted to do lots of other things first, but secretly I do want to do something else. It has to be right, it has to be justified. It can’t be an unwanted encore. It can’t even be an unwanted encore, because people don’t know what they want.”
The Learn Guitar with David Brent series on Gervais’ YouTube Channel is worth checking out if you haven’t – it will give you an idea of the genius behind the madman. Below you can watch the Equality Street official video and the legendary rendition of Free Love Freeway from BBC’s The Office.
Ricky Gervais was on Conan last night to plug his appearance in Muppets Most Wanted and talked about everything you’d want him to. He described what his role as an incredibly annoying supervillain might look/sound like. Of course the conversation came to the time he was on Louie (Dr. Ben during the first season) and he was described Louis C.K.’s naked body in disgusting detail.
All the clips are below including his appearance on Louie, check them out and have a laugh:
If you enjoyed the last Muppets movie chances are you will enjoy Muppets Most Wanted; that’s my take on it anyways, but ask the kids. The latest trailer features new footage from the upcoming movie while the Muppets sing a song about the sequel.
Disney’s “Muppets Most Wanted” takes the entire Muppets gang on a global tour, selling out grand theaters in some of Europe’s most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid and London. But mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine—the World’s Number One Criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit—and his dastardly sidekick Dominic, aka Number Two, portrayed by Ricky Gervais.
The film’s human cast is top shelf with Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell, and Tina Fey.
Muppets Most Wanted opens March 21st, check out the trailer below:
Are you ready for another Muppets movie? As someone who found the previous one a welcome return to form…I sure am!
Disney just released a trailer for The Muppets Most Wanted which gives us an expanded look at the plot of the film: Kermit is mistaken for a renowned jewel thief named Constantine while the gang is on tour in Europe and winds up in a Russian prison. It also shows off what is sure to be just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to celebrity cameos, so many! Usually that would be cause for an eye roll but with The Muppets…I think it works.
Without further ado, please continue reading to check out the new trailer! And remember…The Muppets Most Wanted arrives in theaters on March 21, 2014.
Disney has released the first teaser trailer for Muppets Most Wanted, the follow-up to the 2011 hit. This time the gang is on a successful tour in Europe but gets into trouble when Kermit gets confused with his jewel-heisting doppelganger, Constantine. Ricky Gervais plays Constantine’s sidekick, Tina Fey plays a Russian prison guard, what else do you need to know?
This first teaser trailer is just glimpses of things to come I imagine so keep that in mind, this one is for the kids.
Muppets Most Wanted opens on March 21, 2014.
The follow-up to The Muppets has been renamed. The Muppets… Again! will now be named The Muppets Most Wanted.
The film is again directed by James Bobin, and will star Ricky Gervais and Tina Fey. Following on from the events of the first movie, The Muppets have gone on a world tour around Europe. But trouble starts when Constantine – the World’s Number One Criminal and Kermit’s doppelgänger – and his accomplice – played by Ricky Gervais – pursuing them.
I said it was a slow news day.
We last left David Brent ten years ago selling cleaning products and enjoying a dating success. Now in “The Office Revisited” — a 10-minute video posted on Ricky Gervais’s YouTube channel as part of this year’s Comic Relief benefit — Brent returns.
Find out what he has been up to, and what he’s doing now!
Karl Pilkington presents A Love of Two Brains featuring Clive Warren [sic] is taken from the HBO series The Ricky Gervais Show. The show is a delightful bonus for those who listened to the podcasts as they turned them into an animated program. I felt like sharing this today as I’ve watched and listened to it many times, so it’s not really news – it’s olds.
Karl Pilkington pitches his idea for a film about a love of two brains. The actors he thought should star in his film were Rebecca De Mornay and Clive Warren. It is assumed he meant Clive Owen but he got the name wrong. Nevertheless, Ricky still questioned Karl by saying “Who the f*ck’s Clive Warren?!”
David Brent returns for Comic Relief! The Office Revisited will be shown on Red Nose Day – Friday 15th March on BBC One. Ten years on, we’ll find out what he’s been up to and most importantly what he’s doing now.
Gervais left the series open ended with Tim (Martin Freeman) saying, “Come back, come back here in 10 years, see how I’m doing then. Cause I could be married with kids, you don’t know. Life just goes on.” Will we get to see what the others are up to as well? I can’t wait. Embedding disabled by request – watch here.
Jerry Seinfeld has gone and made another show about nothing, I’m in. The title of his new web series is as literal as it gets; there are comedians, in cars, and they go get coffee.
It’s a nice little watch if you’re on a lunch break yourself, they talk cars, comedy, and anything else that might come up organically. Two episodes are out right now with two of my favorite people, Larry David and Ricky Gervais.
