It might be old news that Peter Jackson would be directing the sequel to Steven Spielberg’s The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn. Truth be told, the movie might still be a hard sell with its motion capture style and if it bombs we may not see a series of these fantastic looking films.
Jackson has confirmed in a recent interview with THR that he plans to direct the sequel to Tintin after he’s finished directing The Hobbit
Spielberg said that they still have yet to get the greenlight, but the studios have allowed them to develop it to the point where it’s ready to go. He explained “[Sony and Paramount] were willing to do one movie with us and then give us the financial wherewithal to develop a script, do all the visual storyboards and get it really in launch position. So we can launch pretty quickly on a second movie. The script is already written.”
The sequel will be called The Adventures Of Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun, and the script to the sequel in being written by Anthony Horowitz creator of the Alex Rider series of young-adult spy novels. The plot for the film involves Tintin and his BFF Captain Haddock investigating a strange illness that has befallen seven explorers who have discovered an Incan tomb, before traveling to Peru to get to the bottom of the mystery.
The movie is being released in Europe this week; it’s bound to do well. America on the other hand…we will wait and see.

Moviegoers are often torn trying to decide if 3D is worth it or not. It has high ticket prices and it’s used most of the time as a gimmick, wasn’t filmed for 3D (post conversion) and takes away from the movie going experience all around. I digress because Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson have something to say about it all.
During the press conference for The Adventures of Tintin, Spielberg and Jackson talked about 3D, a lot of it is the standard argument but worth hearing again for those on the fence. I can’t argue about it anymore, so I’ll let the leaders do it for me.
Here’s what they had to say:

20th Century Fox is in the middle of adapting the classic TV series 21 Jump Street, starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum as two cops who go undercover in a high school. The cast for the film also includes Ice Cube, Dave Franco, Brie Larsen, and Rob Riggle. I would love the movie to be rated R for language, but I imagine they will save that for the “Jumpier Street Edition” DVD and make the theatrical film PG-13. The current release date for the film is March 16, 2012
New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. have released a new image from Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. This image gives us our first look at the dwarves Nori, Ori and Dori, played by Jed Brophy, Adam Brown and Mark Hadlow. See it below:
