The CoF Weekend Preview: Better Movies Next Week. But For Now, The Simpsons Christmas Special

simpsons

Welcome to The CoF Weekend Preview, things are getting good in the theaters but I had to go with The Simpsons for the header this weekend.  We shared with you this past week The Best Gifts For The Film Lover 2011, a condensed December Movie Guide and who can forget Ryan’s attempt to kill the Kevin void with his own City Strip.  Check back Monday for a special surprise to further fill that void.  BONUS: The Game Room Picture Slider has been updated, check it out.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, SpyIMDBRT (86%) – Trailer

Gary Oldman, Colin Firth and Tom Hardy will be holding an acting class this weekend in the form of a paranoid world of espionage.  I’m in.

The SitterIMDBRT (21%) – Trailer

Jonah Hill leads a bunch of kids around the city in an effort to have sex, just another Tuesday night right fellas? *high fives self.  The trailer made me laugh, I can’t ask for much more.  Some critics are turned off by foul language and nonsensical action scenes.  I say bring it on, anything to take down New Year’s Eve at the box office.

New Year’s EveIMDBRT (5%) – Trailer

A cast of hundreds couldn’t find a movie in this mess.  Shame on all of you.

OTHER:

Boardwalk Empire (HBO, Sunday) – The season finale, it’s going to be good.

The Simpsons (FOX, Sunday) – The show’s Christmas episode is set in Christmas 30 years in the future, where Homer and Marge are empty nesters and Bart, Lisa and Maggie bring their own kids over to see Homer and Marge for Christmas.

It’s the last lap of 2011 and we have the final month of movies for you below, so choose wisely.  Here is a roundup of what’s coming out this month, I can tell you right now I’m so there for Sherlock Holmes, MI4, Tintin and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.  I usually see a movie on New Year’s Day (all is quiet), and I will likely start 2012 off with Spielberg’s War Horse.

What will you be watching?  Did we miss anything?  Sound off in the comments below!

Unbearable Trailer For Valentine’s Day Follow-up ‘New Years Eve’

Wednesday, July 27th, 2011

new-years-eve

The trailer for Garry Marshall‘s New Year’s Eve has been released and left me angry and confused.  Robert De Niro…need I go on?  I don’t tolerate these movies that put a huge cast together leaving most of of them with just a few minutes of screen time all so they can make a fancy poster with pretty faces and big names.  They were on the set for half a day filming what is basically a cameo and I’m supposed to be impressed?  Jog on.

The cast includes Robert De Niro, Ashton Kutcher, Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sarah Jessica Parker, Hilary Swank, Zac Efron, Sienna Miller, Lea Michele, Sofia Vergara, Abigail Breslin, Til Schweiger, Seth Meyers, Jon Bon Jovi, Josh Duhamel, and Carla Gugino.

New Year’s Eve opens on December 9th, just in time for…Christmas?  Hit the jump to watch the trailer.
