For those who don’t appreciate a fine movie poster, I direct to this. How very thoughtful and non-insulting to the brain right? Moving on. The Art of Drew Struzan gathers more than 300 pieces of artwork including sketches, concept art and finished posters for E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Hellboy II and dozens of other pictures. The book also includes previously unseen illustrations for Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Blade Runner, Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome and Waterworld. Struzan retired in 2008. The Art of Drew Struzan hits bookstores September 14th.

Michael Jackson’s This Is It is a movie hitting theaters on October 28th. So far all I have heard is that the film will be a bunch of rehearsal footage. Well I doubt that because rehearsals usually sound like ass. So it will have to be dubbed over. And I am sure many celebrities who want to express their love for the man they didn’t talk to for the past decade will also want some screen time. OK I’m done being angry. Poster after the jump.

The movie is getting a lot of buzz and I have heard from a few people that it’s “amazing”. Trailer makes me want to know what the hell is happening on the moon, so job well done there. The poster instantly reminded me of Kubrick. GeekTyrant says: Moon is a refreshingly philosophical and ultimately touching indie reflection on a genre that too often loses sight of character and story amid the wizardry of its special effects; told in the classic filmmaking tradition of 2001: A Space Odyssey. Go to MOON June 12, 2009.

Where the Wild Things Are is an upcoming film by Spike Jonze baed on the Maurice Sendak children’s book of the same name. The trailer will be here on the 27th says CHUD.

The film will combine live action, suitmation, animatronics and CGI. Its release is currently scheduled for October 16, 2009. The seven creatures will be actors in up to nine-foot-tall suits made of foam, although it is expected that their faces will be computer-generated. This is just the way Spike wanted it and is how he is going to get it. Great.

The trailer for FUNNY PEOPLE is out and about and looks to be another winner for the Apatow crew. The poster on the other hand…it took me a few days to realize that was Seth Rogen, I actually thought it was Sean Astin. No? Just me?What’s with the page out of Tarantino’s playbook with the “3rd film by me” gimmick. Could you imagine if every director did that? “The 15th film by Rob Reiner”.

Ok moving on. The trailer is a little too revealing for my taste but Apatow can’t seem to do any wrong. Except when he puts his name on things that end in Zohan. Never again.
