It is time. Here is the theatrical trailer for Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated finale to his Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises. We get all new footage so even if you saw the prologue in IMAX (how awesome was that?) then you still have something to watch. Gotham looks to have changed since we last left it some 8 years ago (in the story), “this is peace time” we’re told…so maybe that’s why Bane is striking now, and holy hell does he strike. “When Gotham is Ashes, You Have My Permission To Die” = CHILLS.
The trailer gives nothing away, as great trailers do. This is one for the books. Check out the trailer below:

Here’s your first official look at Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle a.k.a Catwoman in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises. Not what I was expecting but I can’t fault Nolan for not going campy with his realistic character adaptations. “Ice to see you” is something we could do without right? This may not be the final Catwoman costume some are saying, as it does look homemade, so maybe it gets tighter later is what the boys out there should keep in mind. Also the image was released on the official Dark Knight Rises website titled “selina_kyle”.
Yesterday, we got our first look at Henry Cavill as Superman in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel that you can see here if you missed it. This is what Tom Hardy looks like as Bane (unofficial set picture). And here is where you can catch up on all of our Dark Knight Rises news.
The Dark Knight Rises opens July 20, 2012.

If you already have a pretty good Blu-ray collection growing or if you are just starting out – you will be happy to know that David Fincher‘s Se7en is finally coming, September 14th of this year. As one of the best serial killer movies, it’s hard to believe it took so long, it does however look like they loaded this edition for us. The new re-mastered feature was supervised by Fincher, so it’s not an awful double dip.
Features:
- Four commentaries featuring director David Fincher, actors Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman and others.
- Additional/extended scenes.
- Alternate endings.
- Exploration of the opening title sequence.
- Production design and still photographs with commentaries.
- The Notebooks: Full motion video details John Doe´s writings.
- Theatrical trailer.

Clint Eastwood plays it safe with this tale of Mandela and his idea to bring unity to South Africa through rugby. Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon provide the acting clout while Eastwood shapes the direction of the film. I loved Eastwood’s previous outings; Gran Torino, Changeling, Million Dollar Baby and Mystic River – perhaps for the darker side of filmmaking Directed with each. INVICTUS is a modest, self-effacing movie about extraordinary events that chronicles one battle in Nelson Mandela’s war against the past and his journey to reconstruct a brighter future for his people.
The movie’s plot sounds clichéd, and while the film is a lot of the time, the good news is that it’s not overwhelmed by it. I found it bland and slow; the movie will win audiences with the charm of Mandela, but descends into a film about rugby.
