moore trailer for capitalism: a love story
August 21st, 2009 by The Mayor

I love and hate this.  I love it because it’s the 2nd best use of ‘Paper Planes’ by MIA since The Pineapple Express and I hate it because I have some stock in AIG…come on Moore, let them slide.  Trailer after the break.

“It’s a crime story. But it’s also a war story about class warfare. And a vampire movie, with the upper 1 percent feeding off the rest of us. And, of course, it’s also a love story. Only it’s about an abusive relationship.  It’s not about an individual, like Roger Smith, or a corporation, or even an issue, like health care. This is the big enchilada. This is about the thing that dominates all our lives — the economy. I made this movie as if it was going to be the last movie I was allowed to make.  It’s a comedy. — Michael Moore

michael moore is in love
July 9th, 2009 by The Mayor

capmooreIt’s safe to say at this point that Michael Moore makes very entertaining documentaries.  Under the opinionated blanket he puts over his films, there is always very unique and underlying message that he shares that most filmmakers dare not touch.  As you can imagine a lot of Americans are pissed right now about how the financial situation in their country came to be.  If only someone would make a movie to “capitalize” on this current situation.  Oh wait…

In his latest documentary Michael Moore will take a look at to global capitalism, in the freshly now titled CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY.  He will explore the causes of the economic meltdown in what he calls “the biggest robbery in the history of this country” – the transfer of U.S. taxpayer money to private financial institutions.

On why he chose to make a ‘love story,’ Moore stated that it was time for him to make a ‘relationship movie.’ “It will be the perfect date movie,” said Moore. “It’s got it all — lust, passion, romance, and 14,000 jobs being eliminated every day. It’s a forbidden love, one that dare not speak its name. Heck, let’s just say it: It’s Capitalism.”

I hope Gordon Gekko doesn’t have a date already.  The Doc opens October 2nd, 2009.

Extra Tidbit: The film’s release date is exactly one year and a day after the U.S. Senate voted to approve a $700 billion bailout of Wall Street.

moore’s next
June 13th, 2009 by The Mayor

Michael Moore has taken on General Motors, the Bush administration, and insurance companies. What’s next? A very timely film on corporate corruption, due to be released this fall.  Moore premiered in select locations a trailer asking the audience to help out the disadvantaged by giving money to the ushers. Then a line of fresh-faced young people marched in with collection cans and t-shirts that said “Save Our CEOs.” The audience hooted and applauded.  (seriously)

moore sets date
May 24th, 2009 by The Mayor

Michael Moore’s next documentary doesn’t have a title yet, but it has a release date: October 2nd, 2009. Apparently that’s a year and a day after Congress approved the $700 billion Wall Street bailout. Oh boy, what could this one be about? The movie is about the financial crisis.

Describing the project he says that he made the movie to find out why “the wealthy” “systematically set about to fleece the American people out of their hard-earned money.” Didn’t people also buy shit they couldn’t afford and then point fingers at banks? Nah, not Americans.
