Quentin Tarantino has calmed down and is ready to make his Western The Hateful Eight. In short: Tarantino was planning another Western after Django Unchained, a film called The Hateful Eight that may have starred Bruce Dern and Christoph Waltz. Tarantino’s script was leaked and published online rightfully pissing him off to the point of packing it all in. A few days ago at Cannes he admitted that he had “calmed down” and that he was finishing the second draft and intended to do a third draft.
Well now it looks like Hateful Eight is set to start production this fall according to Showbiz 411. The report adds that all of the actors who participated in a recent live read of the script like Bruce Dern, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Madsen, Kurt Russell, James Remar, Amber Tamblyn, Walton Goggins, and Zoe Bell will star in the film, but sadly Christoph Waltz will not be a part of the cast. Tim Roth also participated in the live read, but he is not mentioned in the report so no word yet on his status.
The story of The Hateful Eight takes place in post-Civil War Wyoming and tells the story of a small group of stagecoach passengers who are stranded during a blizzard. A large chunk of the film takes place in a bar, and the characters include a couple of bounty hunters (Jackson and Russell), a Confederate general (Dern), a cowboy (Madsen), a transplanted Englishman (Roth), a soldier (Goggins), and a female prisoner (Tamblyn).
I for one welcome a QT return to the West; this great cast and the dialogue driven script should supply the director with another winner. We will keep you posted on all Hateful Eight news.
Spider Man 4 I could do without, at least for ten years or so. SM3 was pure piss and I will never speak of it again. Sin City on the other hand was one of the best movies I have ever seen, so when talk of the 2nd one comes up as do my ears. In what might be a throw-away comment from Rosario Dawson she mentioned to MTV:
“Yeah, I talked to Robert [Rodriguez] and Frank [Miller]…They actually just finished the script for ‘Sin City 2′ a few months ago.”
Michael Madsen, bad ass. Also the father in Free Willy.
Of course, this whole thing has been going on for ages, and who knows if Mickey Rourke will want to come back being a star again and all. Moving on, Sam Raimi was at SXSW this past weekend and MTV got Raimi to dish on all things SPIDER-MAN 4:
“Right now we’re just working on the story for SPIDER-MAN 4 just that one film…”
“I do have a pretty good idea, but I’m just not a liberty to say yet.”
Raimi repeatedly used the phrase “villain or villains” in his conversations as to not even give away whether there’d be one or two. Great, another orgy of special effect and next to no dialogue. Slow clap.
“I can’t imagine making a SPIDER-MAN movie without Kirsten…Of course it can be done…” And should be by my count, she sucks. To read more from Raimi on SPIDER-MAN 4, click here to head to MTV.
