The Boardwalk Empire season finale is this coming Sunday, here is the “To the Lost” promo, and it’s excellent. It’s been a very compelling season; a slow boil much like the first season with payoffs here and there. I’d like to think the season finale will be a stunner, you with me? Watch the promo:

Boardwalk Empire will return for a third season reports Deadline. The second season still holds strong on Sunday nights for HBO and has become required viewing in my TV line-up. The show performed well at the recent Emmy Awards winning eight awards. It has one of the best cast and crews on any TV show today with Steve Buscemi, Kelly Macdonald, Michael Pitt, Terence Winter, Martin Scorsese, Tim Van Patten, Stephen Levinson and Mark Wahlberg.
I can’t wait to see where the show is going to go as the 1920′s progresses; talking movies were invented in 1923, J. Edgar Hoover was appointed FBI director in 1924, and Hitler publishes Mein Kampf in 1925. Needless to say, as long as the show keeps going, it’s got nothing to worry about for historical material.

Here is the first trailer for their upcoming action thriller Contraband starring Mark Wahlberg and Kate Beckinsale. Great actors misused include Ben Foster and Giovanni Ribisi. If someone told me this movie had John Cena attached at one point, I’d believe it. It’s nothing we haven’t seen before (besides maybe the duct tape masks in a movie).
Wahlberg plays a former smuggler trying to go straight as a night guard. When his wife’s brother (who got him the job) botches a smuggling run, his life is threatened and the night guard is dragged in for one more job. Foster plays the night guard’s best friend and right hand man, who help him take on the dangerous job.
The film will be released on January 13th 2012, obviously. Watch the trailer below:

One of the best video game series’ was about to get the Hollywood treatment, leaving many to believe it was going to crash and burn on arrival. Well the news here may cheer a lot of people up, including myself; director David O. Russell has dropped out of Sony’s screen adaptation of the video game Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. [mtv]
Citing inside sources, “the split was amicable and due to creative differences on the project. Studio will begin its search for a new writer today.” From this, we can imagine that Mark Wahlberg is probably out as Nathan Drake, still to late for Nathan Fillion?

Mark Wahlberg has confirmed to MTV that he will play video game hero Nathan Drake in an adaptation of Uncharted: Drake’s Forturne. The Uncharted series are some great fun, if you have a PS3 and haven’t played, you have some catching up to do. David O. Russell (Three Kings) is directing and Wahlberg in the same interview said Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesci are being sough after to join the film. This will be the third time Wahlberg and Russell have worked together (Three Kings, I Heart Huckabees and The Fighter).
Wahlberg said:
David is one of the best writer/directors I’ve ever worked with. The idea that he has is just insane. So hopefully we’ll be making that movie this summer.
That’s who he wants to write the parts for. I talked to Pesci about it and I know David’s people have talked to [Robert De Niro]. I’m obviously in whatever David wants to do but the idea of it is so off the charts: De Niro being my father, Pesci being my uncle. It’s not going to be the watered-down version, that’s for sure.

Well two things: The film will not be following the video game since none of Drake’s family members ever made an appearance. Also, Nathan Fillion will not be starring [see that news here].

David O. Russell hasn’t completed a movie since 2004′s pretentious I Heart Huckabees. Since then he has taken on The Fighter, a project that was initially intended for Darren Aronofsky (The Wrestler). Well the trailer is below after the jump and looks like any great underdog story.

Something for the ladies...
The movie stars Mark Wahlberg as “Irish” Micky Ward, a real boxer from the 1980s who is regarded as a working class hero in Massachusetts. Christian Bale stars as his half-brother Dickie Eklund, a former pro fighter who became his trainer, while Amy Adams (who was fantastic in Doubt) plays his wife Charlene. (more…)

Fu*k I hate it when he teases us.
I hope this doesn’t ruin your day, but the trailer isn’t up yet. Entertainment Tonight will be premiering the first trailer for Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones sometime today, but you can get an early peek at footage from the anticipated film right here and now! (after the jump actually) Based on the critically acclaimed best-selling novel by Alice Sebold, the film centers on a young girl who has been murdered and watches over her family – and her killer – from heaven. She must weigh her desire for vengeance against her desire for her family to heal.
Mark Wahlberg, Rachel Weisz, Susan Sarandon, Stanley Tucci, Michael Imperioli and Saoirse Ronan star. The film looks pretty awesome, I’m glad Peter Jackson is at the helm (see Heavenly Creatures) with this one, he will do it justice. I read the book and am pretty surprised with what I am seeing from stills and this sneek peek. A lot of the books appeal was the fact that it gave us a vision of heaven that some people may not envision.
