Last week I mentioned how LOUIE was premiering. Well, I am 3 episodes in and I can honestly say it’s one of the best shows on TV. Granted I watch little TV, but still – check this show out folks. Here is a great scene, if you watch it with an open mind you will realize that the thoughtful and realistic dialogue here is smarter and less homophobic than most commercials on TV. (more…)

After the jump there is a short promo for Louis CK’s new show coming to FX this June, LOUIE. Ricky Gervais lends his guest appearing skills [he was in Alias] to show, that seems to be a blend of Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm. So only good things can happen with this. CK’s last show ‘Lucky Louie‘ was short-lives on HBO but is crazy funny and I recommend picking up the series on DVD.LOUIE will star C.K. as a newly divorced father raising his two daughters in New York City. The network has ordered 13 episodes of the series, which will begin airing on June 29, 2010. Louis C.K. is writing, directing, editing, producing and starring in the upcoming series. The series will be loosely based on C.K.’s life, and will blend his stand-up material with extended autobiographical comedy short films depicting moments of his off-stage experiences. Louis C.K. said the show would be different than typical comedy shows. Production was set to begin in November 2009. Louis C.K. said of his show, “It’s very vignette-y. It’s very vérité. All those French words. I use ‘em all.” The pilot episode is to include two stories: one involving a bad date, and another involving Louie volunteering at his kids’ school. Click for the promo…
I may as well turn CoF into a Gervais fan site hey? Well this is basically a reminder if you don’t already know (shame on you) that Ricky Gervais will be releasing his movie currently titled THIS SIDE OF THE TRUTH (imdb seems to be going under another title) sometime soon. Directed by Gervais and Matthew Robinson, from their own script, the film is set on an alternate Earth where no one has ever lied, and stars Gervais as a performer who tells the world’s first lie, coming to wield its power for personal gain. I read somewhere (lost the link sorry) that there would be Oscar buzz around this script. That would be something.

This movie is going to be awesome for many reasons. Let’s take a look.

Gervais is blogging his experience of working on this movie, from his collaboration with co-writer and director Matt Robinson (“During the [conference] call me and Matt passed each other off-putting notes and obscene pictures to make each other laugh. I lost, and at one point had to leave the room”) to observations about picking out costumes as an actor (“Some directors/lead actors would choose their wardrobe based on style, creation of original iconography and aesthetic enhancement of the fictional world. I chose mine based on comfort, how long they take to get in and out of and on what I would want to keep when the movie is complete.”)

His blog is hilarious and more often than not he doesn’t even talk about the movie, he will go on about current events and such. He keeps you up to date on his Audio Books and TV appearances. Really handy one stop shop for a Gervais fan. Look at cast. Jennifer Garner, Jason Bateman(Teen Wolf Too), Jonah Hill, Rob Lowe, the great Louis C.K., Tina Fey, Christopher Guest! And Jeffrey Tambor. This is going to be awesome.
COMING SOON: Official title, release date, and poster.
