Deadline has reported on the HBO premiere schedule and it’s good, obviously.  Returning for one final turn at bat, Danny McBride in Eastbound & Down will air on February 19th.  Right after that awesome show, we have Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s Life’s Too Short (check out all our coverage).  I’ve been a big fan of Eastbound & Down since the beginning, and waiting over a year between seasons hasn’t been easy.  It will be sad to see them go.  I have been watching Life’s Too Short and will likely end up watching it again when it finally airs on HBO.  It’s a solid return to TV for the comedy team, and Warwick Davis will likely get a deserving Emmy or Glob nomination here.

Here’s a clip from Life’s Too Short, the new BBC series from Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, and Warwick Davis.  Here we see Liam Neeson announce that he wants to start his own career in comedy, and has a go at some improv.  We know Neeson is a badass (see him here fighting wolves), but who knew he could be this funny?  You will have to watch to see how good he is at being bad at it…yeah.

“Life’s Too Short” premiered on BBC Two on Nov. 10, and focuses on the 3 foot, 6 inch actor Warwick Davis, who plays a fictionalized version of himself.  HBO will broadcast the series next year after its BBC run.

See all our LTS news.  For all those who enjoy their other series ‘An Idiot Abroad‘, enjoy this.

Here is preview video from BBC’s upcoming show Life’s Too Short created by Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Warwick Davis. The video below shows Davis introducing Depp to Gervais, there seems to be heat between the two after Gervais’ Golden Globes jokes aimed at the star.  Forget the Tim Allen burn, I love that someone took a dig at Tim Burton casting his wife in everything he does.  Watch below:

Here is the first official trailer for Life’s Too Short, Ricky Gervais‘ next TV project with Stephen Merchant, and starring Warwick Davis.  We have shown you a few funny promos that you can find here.  The show will air on BBC Two on November 10th 2011.  HBO has picked up the US rights and will air the series in 2012.  I’m pretty excited about this show obviously, The Office and Extras were amazing television and being a fan of Gervais and Merchant’s works, I don’t have to hope this will be great, it’s going to be.  Watch the trailer below:

Rich Hardcastle shot from this month's GQ.

I can’t seem to settle down about my excitement for both of these shows, so here’s what Ricky Gervais has to say and share from his blog:

As promised, here are some exclusive clips, trails and behind the scenes bits and pieces from both Life’s Too Short and An Idiot Abroad 2.  Please tweet and blog and chat to people on the bus about these wonderful free e-treets from Uncle Ricky and his weird little chums.

Here is “a taste of what’s to come” says Gervais for the upcoming series Life’s Too Short (coming soon on BBC2, later to HBO). Ricky and Steve are visited by Warwick Davis in the clip, watch it below.  For more news – see what we have said so far, visit Ricky’s Blog (updated 5 days a week) and the official site for the show.  I can’t wait, I really can’t; I’m worried I’ll hurt someone.

In yet another hilarious promo for Life’s Too Short, Ricky Gervais manages to get Warwick Davis to dress up as a Muppet.  This was after he and Johnny Depp had him in a toilet [see].  No word yet on the premier date, according to his blog Ricky is in the editing room now and recently finished episode 2.  With this coming later this year, An Idiot Abroad 2 and The Ricky Gervais Show season 3 you can look forward to a few months of CityofRicky.com amirite?

lifestooshortI really hope people keep in mind when watching these promos and trailers for Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s upcoming comedy Life’s Too Short, that it’s just that…comedy.  I’ve seen comments on others sites saying that Ricky is mean for what he says and does to Warwick Davis – who is a 41 year old man who helped create and stars in the show.  I think he’s in on it if you ask me.  The Internet kids, when will they learn? [see Ricky Gervais with Elmo and Warwick Davis]

Life’s Too Short created and written by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, and is described by Gervais as being about “the life of a showbiz dwarf”, with Warwick Davis playing a fictionalised version of himself. How can it get better than that?

lifestooshortThe TV event of the year for me is the upcoming BBC2/HBO television series Life’s Too Short created and written by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, and is described by Gervais as being about “the life of a showbiz dwarf”, with Warwick Davis playing a fictionalised version of himself.  How can it get better than that?

Gervais has told reporters: “I’d been thinking about doing something with a midget since seeing The Wizard of Oz again a few years ago. Then we met Warwick during Extras. The real Warwick tells us these great stories. They’re comedy gold.” Stephen Merchant commented of Davis that “he helped create the idea and came to us with the story.” [see Ricky Gervais with Elmo and Warwick Davis]

Gervais described it as “A cross between Extras and Curb your Enthusiasm and One Foot in the Grave but with a dwarf. That is out and out funny.”

Warwick is playing a twisted version of himself. He’s quite conceited and arrogant and manipulative. And he runs a [small person] talent agency, which he does in real life. Davis said that his character is egotistical and suffers from small man syndrome, while Gervais said of the character “he refuses to live his life as a disabled person. We’re making him empowered but also give him these foibles”.
