I’m an absolute sucker for movies set on Mars, and I’m hoping that as we actually do inch closer to sending real people to Mars we’ll be seeing more films featuring the red planet.
The Last Days on Mars has finally announced itself with a trailer and I already know where my butt will be on December 6th. The trailer does seem to give quite a lot away unfortunately, they could have ended it at the halfway point and it still would have been just as effective in my opinion. Oh well, you can check it out for yourself after the jump!
Below is the first trailer for director Lee Daniels’ (Precious, The Paperboy) “based on a true story” drama The Butler. The film stars Forrest Whitaker as Cecil Gaines, a butler who served at the White House from 1952 to 1986. The trailer is full of familiar faces and plays as some serious awards bait. It certainly looks interesting and seeing Alan Rickman as Reagan was a pleasant surprise.
The film also stars Oprah Winfrey, David Oyelowo, Mariah Carey, John Cusack, Jane Fonda, Cuba Gooding Jr., Terrence Howard, Minka Kelly, Lenny Kravitz, Melissa Leo, James Marsden, Alex Pettyfer, Vanessa Redgrave, Liev Schreiber, and Robin Williams.
The Butler opens on October 18th.
Here is a new trailer for Goon [past trailers here and here], which stars Seann William Scott, Liev Shreiber and Jay Baruchel. I enjoy most hockey movies, this one looks like a winner so far, and that might have to do with the movie having been written by Jay Baruchel and Evan Goldberg (Superbad).
The trailer is less offensive as it lacks the swearing and such, but it’s just as hard hitting. The fighting scenes look really well done, not a lot of close up shaky cam going on here.
Doug Glatt, a slacker who discovers he has a talent for brawling is approached by a minor league hockey coach and invited to join the team as the “muscle.” Despite the fact that Glatt can’t skate his best friend, Pat, convinces him to give it a shot, and Glatt becomes a hero to the team and their fans, until the league’s reigning goon becomes threatened by Glatt’s success and decides to even the score.
Alliance Films has released a new trailer for Goon [past trailer here], which stars Seann William Scott, Liev Shreiber and Jay Baruchel. Michael Dowse directs the story of a small town bouncer who after physically defending his best friend at a hockey game, is recruited to play the enforcer for a minor league team, despite initial misgivings. I like a good hockey movie, this looks to be something worth keeping an eye on. It’s like what would have happened if the first 5 minutes of Happy Gilmore got a feature film [scene].
Full synopsis and trailer below:
We have the first movie trailer for Goon starring Seann William Scott, Liev Shreiber and Jay Baruchel. I enjoy hockey movies and tend to enjoy them even more with Coach Bombay, but this will have to do. It looks like a comedy brawler in the vein of Slap Shot and the beginning 10 minutes of Happy Gilmore. It’s nice to see Shreiber in a comedic role for a change as well as Scott doing what he does best, play the sympathetic goof off. I look forward to this one.
Labelled an outcast by his brainy family, a bouncer overcomes long odds to lead a team of under performing misfits to semi-pro hockey glory, beating the crap out of everything that stands in his way.
