With a stellar cast that is sure to give top notch performances there isn’t a lot that could go wrong here. Guy Pearce should always play a villain that much I do know. It’s going to be bloody and violent, I’m there.
The Possession – RT (35%) – Trailer
I’ve heard mixed things, Ebert liked it a lot and he’s not easy to please with horror. There’s a lesson in this movie I’d like to predict: don’t buy creepy old boxes from garage sales that have carved inscriptions in Hebrew. Things just won’t turn out for the best.
The Oogieloves in The Big Balloon Adventure – RT (33%) – Trailer
I don’t know what this is but it ‘stars’ Toni Braxton, Cloris Leachman, Christopher Lloyd, Chazz Palminteri, Cary Elwes, and Jaime Pressly. It’s aimed at very young kids, so they will love to see all of these people on the big screen I’m sure.

Check back tomorrow for the debut of the City of Films new vlog series Katie’s Fun-Time Cinema. It’s a short and sweet first episode that won’t take up much of your day at all, I promise.

When it was going with its original title The Wettest County in the World I said Lawless was one of the movies to see in 2012. Now with a title change and two nice trailers [first] behind it, it’s a must see movie of 2012.
Here’s the new trailer for director John Hillcoat’s crime drama starring Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy as brothers who become bootleggers in the South during Prohibition. I didn’t mention him yet, but Guy Pearce looks like a force in this movie. He can play the part of a prick pretty well can’t he?
The film also stars Jason Clarke, Jessica Chastain, Gary Oldman, and Dane DeHaan.
Lawless opens on August 31st.

LAWLESS is the true story of the infamous Bondurant Brothers: bootlegging siblings who made a run for the American Dream in Prohibition-era Virginia. In this epic gangster tale, inspired by true-life tales of author Matt Bondurant’s family in his novel “The Wettest County in the World”, the loyalty of three brothers is put to the test against the backdrop of the nation’s most notorious crime wave.
