We’re Not in Limbo Anymore; HBO Renews THE LEFTOVERS for Season 2

Thursday, August 14th, 2014

HBO has officially ordered a second season of the The Leftovers show from executive producers Damon Lindelof (LOST) and Tom Perrotta (who wrote the book it’s based on).  I’ve watched every episode of The Leftovers thus far,and I am 100% behind the chase of the show as it tends not to give you any answers, but never forgets all the questions they have asked so far. What’s with the dogs!?

The Leftovers, if you don’t know, revolves around the aftermath surrounding a massive “Sudden Departure”, in which 2% of the world’s population vanished. The episode “Two Boats and a Helicopter” is one of the best hours of TV I’ve seen since Breaking Bad. There are a few other great episodes and the rest are difficult to really grade. The show is not for everyone, ratings even show people come and go every week.

There is also the uncertainty of the “Guilty Remnant” and if there is some real spiritual or supernatural stuff going on in this one town we are watching. Justin Theroux leads the strong cast in what has to be his best performances of his career so far. I’ll continue to watch as I’m curious if Lindelof actually has the answers this time around; Lindelof claims that he didn’t set out to create the series beyond the first season, so we will see what that means for season 2 next year.

HBO’s The Leftovers is an intense and unpredictable drama based on the Tom Perrotta novel that shouldn’t be missed; it will leave you guessing and sometimes suffering. I suspect many will find it to be too bleak while others will feel a connection to the heavy feeling it’s going to leave you with each week.

If you haven’t heard of the show, here’s a briefing:

The ROCK OF AGES Trailer, At Least It’s Not The Glee Cast

Wednesday, December 14th, 2011

New Line Cinema has released the first trailer for their upcoming rock and roll movie Rock of Ages starring Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Malin Ackerman, Mary J. Blige, Bryan Cranston, Alec Baldwin and Tom Cruise.  I’m not a fan of the music, but I like when Tom Cruise isn’t playing someone totally out of character (see Magnolia).  Also, check out Baldwins wig, it’s a classic.

Rock of Ages tells the story of small town girl Sherrie and city boy Drew, who meet on the Sunset Strip while pursuing their Hollywood dreams. Their rock ‘n’ roll romance is told through the heart-pounding hits of Def Leppard, Joan Jett, Journey, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison, Whitesnake, and more.

The movie opens June 1, 2012. Watch the first trailer below:
