I can’t recall a movie that took the term teasing to task like Jurassic World. Universal and director Colin Trevorrow really love giving out handfuls of nothing to keep out attention and remind us that this movie is actually happening. Patches, shadows, and now a handprint; movies!
Hit the jump to check out all of those mentioned images and learn nothing about the movie.
The film stars Chris Pratt, Nick Robinson, Ty Simpkins, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D’Onofrio, Irrfan Khan, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy, and Judy Greer.
Jurassic World opens June 12, 2015.
It’s been long discussed, and seemingly in pre-production hell for years – but it’s coming! Jurassic Park IV will arrive in the summer of 2015, and with a new name. The next installment in the popular prehistoric blockbuster series will be titled Jurassic World. The name doesn’t upset me – so that’s good.
Details at this point are sketchy, but Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) is slated to direct. Stay tuned for more details, as I am almost as eager to report news on this as Kevin is to talk about Vin Diesel and the Riddick franchise.
Paramount Pictures has changed the release date of the Michael Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from June 6, 2014 to August 8 2014. Not a big change but it’s going to miss that lucrative Summer spot. Deadline reports that it’s because Bay’s Transformers 4 comes out on June 27 — though that date will also likely change to June 25, as it’s tradition with Bay films to open on the Wednesday of that week.
It’s going to be a very merchandise-crazy summer with those movies coming out; parents beware.
Director Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) is in pre-production on Jurassic Park IV, this past week he took some time to speak to some fans of the franchise over the phone. You can listen to the full conversation on YouTube; here are some notable quotes from the conversation.
“It’s important to make a movie for the fans, but I also have to remember that there’s a lot of people who couldn’t care less, and need for me to make a solid case for why the hell there’s a Jurassic Park IV in the first place.”
“The question we’ve been asking ourselves is why is this movie? How can we move the story forward without losing what people love about this thing?”
“This is not a paycheck gig for me. And it’s not the movie that I’m making so that I can make the movies that I really want to make. I actually want to make a kick-ass Jurassic Park movie. “
“We’re thinking about each of these dinosaurs as characters. Not just in the context of the story, but in the context of history, and movie history, and the way that all people who love dinosaurs think about them. I think my favourite thing that I get to do is to sit down and go through the final designs for how each of these dinosaurs are going to look.”
“For me it’s not about scale. It’s really about whether you have characters that you want to share that adventure with. That’s what Star Wars had and what Goonies had and Jurassic Park definitely had it. I was a little older when I saw Jurassic Park – I was about 15 or 16, but I wanted to be there with those people no matter how big it got. That was our goal with Safety Not Guaranteed, and that’s definitely our goal with Jurassic Park IV.”
Jurassic Park IV is due to hit screens in the summer of 2015.
What had seemed like a rumor for the better part of a decade now feels even more real with the naming of a director. Colin Trevorrow, director of the low budget flick Safety Not Guaranteed, has signed on to direct the upcoming blockbuster. Steven Spielberg will be the executive producer. And I will be there opening night, because I love me some dinosaur movies!
Jurassic Park IV will be shot in 3D and released on June 13, 2014.
Deadline says Universal Pictures has set a release date for Jurassic Park 4, which will be shot in 3D and come out June 13, 2014, Steven Spielberg is returning to produce. The re-release of the original Jurassic Park in 3D opens this April.
It’s a shame that Spielberg won’t return to direct, but the technology should be interesting this time around. The last JP movie was in 2001, we’ve come a long way. Let’s hope it’s not all green screens either – get Andy Serkis in there!
