The Boardwalk Empire season finale is this coming Sunday, here is the “To the Lost” promo, and it’s excellent.  It’s been a very compelling season; a slow boil much like the first season with payoffs here and there.  I’d like to think the season finale will be a stunner, you with me?  Watch the promo:

A red band trailer for the remake of the 1980s television series 21 Jump Street starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum as young cops who go undercover at a high school. The trailer has some funny moments and it’s nice to see Ice Cube swearing in a movie again instead of falling down.  This reminds me a lot of Superbad; the party scene for example is very similar in style.  That’s not a knock at the movie, it works here obviously – I laughed.

In the action-comedy 21 Jump Street, Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) are more than ready to leave their adolescent problems behind. Joining the police force and the secret Jump Street unit, they use their youthful appearances to go undercover in a local high school. As they trade in their guns and badges for backpacks, Schmidt and Jenko risk their lives to investigate a violent and dangerous drug ring. But they find that high school is nothing like they left it just a few years earlier and neither expects that they will have to confront the terror and anxiety of being a teenager again and all the issues they thought they had left behind.

The Simpsons 23rd season begins this Sunday, so what better time to share everything we know about the upcoming season.  It is the longest-running American sitcom, the longest-running American animated program, and in 2009 it surpassed Gunsmoke as the longest-running American primetime, scripted television series; so they are doing something right it seems.  Oh and they will celebrate 500 episodes in 2012.

As a fan (is mental fan a term?) I can honestly say it’s my favorite anything, and there are more than a few reason to get excited about this upcoming season, take a look:

• The season will air Sunday, the Power Plant has hired a new security guard  (Kiefer Sutherland).  He has to deal with his past work with the CIA in order to rescue Homer from a Ukranian terrorist.
• Also in the season premiere,the voting results from “The Ned-liest Catch” will be revealed so we find out if Ned and Edna will be a couple, I voted YES.
• Marge dreams of appearing on the reality series Top Chef.
• In the 500th episode, airing February 19, 2012, the Simpsons find out that everyone in town has become sick of their antics and have come together to decide whether or not they should be exiled.

• The Simpsons go to Antarctica.
• Homer and Bart write a fantasy novel, hoping to capitalize on the Tween culture.
• Krusty gets his own show on a premium cable channel.
• Lisa starts her own social network website. Meanwhile Patty and Selma take part in the Olympic rowing, and race against the Winklevoss twins, who are voiced by Armie Hammer.
• “Treehouse Of Horror XXII” will see Ned Flanders become a serial killer in a segment parodying the TV series Dexter and a segment parodying the movie 127 Hours featuring Aron Ralston.
• A Christmas episode called “Holidays of Future Passed” will be set 30 years in the future and will depict Bart as a deadbeat dad who lives in the school, which is now a condominium, and Skinner is his landlord.
• Homer becomes a populist TV pundit with his show “Gut Check with Homer Simpson”

Guest Stars this season include: Jonah Hill, Jeremy Irons (as Moe’s bar rag), Neil Gaiman, Jane Lynch (who will try to steal Homer’s job), Gordon Ramsay, Joan Rivers, Andy Garcia, Michael Cera, Bryan Cranston, Ted Nugent, Lady Gaga, Tim Heidecker, Eric Wareheim.

The trailer for The Sitter  features a very foul language filled introduction from Jonah Hill and some misbehaved children, enjoy it below.  The Sitter is a comedy about a college student (Hill) on suspension who is coaxed into babysitting the kids next door, but is fully unprepared for the crazy night ahead of him and ends up on a wild chase through New York including a battle against some unruly and vicious drug dealers played by Method Man and Sam Rockwell.

I laughed a few times here and find it to be the grown up remake of Adventures in Babysitting I’ve been waiting for.  Watch it now:

A second trailer [see the first] for the Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill sports film Moneyball is here, much like the first one it does a nice job of blending drama with comedy.  That could be attributed to the writers, Steven Zaillian (Gangs of New York, Schindler’s List) and Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network).

The film is based on a true story that focuses on Billy Beane (Pitt) and Paul De Podesta (Hill), the GM and assistant GM that made the 2002 Oakland A’s a highly competitive Major League Baseball team using a modern analytical sabermetrics system [wiki that], despite having a completely budgeted, low-rent team that were initially the laughing stock of baseball early on in the season.

The rest of the film’s cast includes Kathryn Morris, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Robin Wright. Watch the new trailer for the film below:

20th Century Fox is in the middle of adapting the classic TV series 21 Jump Street, starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum as two cops who go undercover in a high school.  The cast for the film also includes  Ice Cube, Dave Franco, Brie Larsen, and Rob Riggle.  I would love the movie to be rated R for language, but I imagine they will save that for the “Jumpier Street Edition” DVD and make the theatrical film PG-13.  The current release date for the film is March 16, 2012

New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. have released a new image from Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. This image gives us our first look at the dwarves Nori, Ori and Dori, played by Jed Brophy, Adam Brown and Mark Hadlow.  See it below:

These three brothers, all sons of the same mother, could not be more different from each other. Dori, the oldest, spends much of his time watching out for Ori, the youngest; making sure he’s not caught a chill or got himself killed by Wargs or Goblins. Nobody quite knows what Nori gets up to most of the time, except that it’s guaranteed to be dodgy and quite probably, illegal. Dori, Nori and Ori are intensely loyal to each other – and whilst they are perfectly happy fighting amongst themselves, woe-betide any anyone who means harm to one of these brothers.

The first Hobbit film opens in 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D theaters on December 14th 2012.

Bennett Miller (Capote) directed the adaptation by Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network) and Steven Zaillian (Schindler’s List). Originally Steven Soderbergh (Ocean’s Eleven) was set to direct but creative differences led the studio to drop the film until Brad Pitt resurrected the project.

The film also stars Kathryn Morris, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Robin Wright. The film is set to open up on September 23rd 2011.  Check out the trailer below and tell us what you think.
