Below you can watch a featurette for Titanic 3D, it’s been said that James Cameron put a lot of work into this project and didn’t want to just convert and hope of the best, he even polished up the 2D version for us. It will be interesting to see how the final hour of the film plays out in 3D, it’s great cinema with or without the added dimension.
Hit the jump to watch the featurette, Titanic 3D opens April 6th, 2012.

Here is the trailer for James Cameron’s 3D release of Titanic. The film will be released on April 6 in 3D and IMAX 3D theaters. Titanic is the second-highest grossing movie of all time behind Cameron’s other film Avatar. Titanic won Best Picture and Best Director at the Academy Awards. And yes, inaccuracies aside I enjoyed this movie a whole lot, no irony.
I don’t think I need to go on about the plot here, but I will share a scary thought: Gwyneth Paltrow was up for the role of Rose and Matthew McConaughey for Jack. Who else just shuddered? The film is sure to hit Blu-ray around the same time, might be a good time to put away the double VHS you still have.
Watch the trailer below:

My personal philosophy is that post conversion should be used for one thing and one thing only – which is to take library titles that are favorites that are proven, and convert them into 3D – whether it’s Jaws or ET or Indiana Jones, Close Encounters… or Titanic. Unless you have a time machine to go back and shoot it in 3D, you have no other choice. The best alternative is if you want to release a movie in 3D – make it in 3D. - James Cameron [BBC]
Now with that out of the way, Titanic will be released April 6, 2012 in 3D.

Back in October, we said that James Cameron’s Avatar sequels were looking at December 2014/2015 release dates. Since then Cameron has confirmed that the projects will be shot together and more: [insidemovies]
“I am in the process of writing the next two Avatar films now. We are planning to shoot them together and post them together, and we will probably release them not quite back to back, but about a year apart. Christmas ’14 and ’15 is the current plan.”
On the cast: ”Basically, if you survived the first film, you get to be in the second film, at least in some form.”
On charity of the films: ”One thing’s for sure: some percentage of the presumably-massive Avatar sequel gross will go to charity. Fox has partnered with me to donate a chunk of the profits to environmental causes that are at the heart of the Avatar world. I didn’t want to make more Avatar movies without a grander plan in place.”

In an interview with the New York Post, director James Cameron said he’s still in the “notes” stage of his production of Avatar 2, and the sequel won’t be completed until at least 2014. But it may be worth the wait, since the director plans on filming a third film at the same time. He goes on to burn The Matrix, which I found comical. Sounds like Cameron has a trilogy on his hands here, I just don’t see this as the type to hold people back from taking the toys out of the package if you get my drift.
“Right now, the thinking is that [Parts] Two and Three are going to be done together, they’ll be released separately, probably a year apart or maybe even two, but they’ll be done in a bunch. I’m mapping out the story line right now, so there’s a proper arc that plays out over two films but buttons nicely at the end of Two, so you don’t get this horrible second-act/end-of-’The Matrix’ feeling.”
