It was Monday August 16th 2010, new City Strip day. Issue #20 titled “iWouldn’t”, a clever play on words taken from the Apple branding handbook. Genius.
Flash forward to February 16th 2011, Warner Bros. announces it’s taking steps to innovative their home market by releasing two of their hit movies (Christopher Nolan directed), The Dark Knight and Inception, as “App Editions” for the Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. The App Edition of Inception will cost you $11.99 while The Dark Knight will cost $9.99.
As a person who doesn’t use either of those pieces of technology and loathes the already unnecessary digital copy that so many DVD’s come with just so they can call it a “3-Disc Special Edition”, this news is meaningless. That was until our very own Kevin Fraser, the man behind the ink of The City Strip contacted me, out of breath and crying he said “They stole our joke Graham!” I quickly hung up on him and went to the Internets. He was right.

Here is what David Lynch thinks:

No one really watches movies on their hand devices do they? I seriously just thought that was a joke, that’s why we made a comic about it. If we knew people would get hurt…we’re sorry, just so sorry.
