If you’re like me and really liked the Last House on the Left remake, then I Spit on Your Grave might be worth checking out. The original is now a classic because of how hated it was upon initial release. Roger Ebert gave it zero stars and referred to it as: “a vile bag of garbage…without a shred of artistic distinction, attending it was one of the most depressing experiences of my life.” [review here]
It’s interesting to note that the original Last House On The Left, Ebert really liked, perhaps because it was a reimagining of Ingmar Bergman’s The Virgin Spring, so that makes it credible to some people I supposed. The man has a particular taste in his rape scenes even though in my view both I Spit on Your Grave and Last House share the same theme, it’s revenge time ya’ll.
