The very cool website The Editing Room allowed me to taint their track record by providing them with an abridged script of my own; A Nightmare on Elm Street.  It was good fun and I hope you enjoy it; I wrote one for X-Files: I Want To Believe a few years ago which you can read here too.

I’ve always thought I could write a fantastic Nightmare on Elm Street movie, I’m a big fan of the franchise and this might be the closest I get to that dream, and this isn’t even close come to think of it…an abridged script of a remake of the original, I need to rethink this.

WHAT IS IT? A movie shortened to a few pages and written in screenplay format. The purpose is to save you time so you don’t have to see the movie but can still talk about it to your friends, co-workers, and mistresses.  Rod Hilton created The-Editing-Room.com site back in 1998.  Since then his scripts have gone on to be featured in Forbes, Entertainment Weekly, and Total Film

Freddy Krueger is the new DLC character for the game Mortal Kombat, here he shows off some bloody fatalities. The dream master in a video game that doesn’t suck, this was always a dream of mine.  I wonder if they can manage to make a game just for him? [IGN]  Watch it below:

One of my favorite death scenes of all time (wow that sounds morbid) is that of Tina (played by Amanda Wyss) in the original A Nightmare on Elm Street from Wes Craven.  I was amazed when I first saw this as a kid, there was nothing like it.  What’s even more incredible is how they pulled it off.  Much like I showed you How They Filmed the Inception Corridor Scene, it’s all real here.  Watch it below along with the original death scene:

Freddy Krueger

Long live the king of horror!

The guys over on the official A nightmare on Elm Street Sequel Facebook page (OK?) have given the fans a reward for reaching their goal (800 fans). They have presented the fans “The Big Reveal” which is the first selection from the new A Nightmare on Elm Street sequel script.

Click here to go read the first few lines from the script, it’s just a few line – it’s pretty cool and very much the style we have come to know of Freddy.  The film is scheduled to be released in 2012.

Freddy’s Revenge Happening In 3D

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

Freddy Krueger 3DThe new Nightmare on Elm Street went on to defy early reviews by making over $32 million this past weekend at the box office.  So it’s no surprise to hear Warner Bros wants to have another go, but this time in a whole other dimension.  There’s been a suggestion that the new film be in 3D – that will be the second Elm Street to use 3D – the last ten minutes or so of 1991′s Freddy’s Dead : The Final Nightmare was also in 3D, it even came with glasses!  Jackie Earle Haley (Freddy) is committed to three Elm Street films in all.  They couldn’t even wait until the number 3 was in the title, lazy.

I agree that a burn victim should look like a burn victim, but come on guys.  This is the new Freddy for the new/remake/reimagining/nonessential A Nightmare on Elm Street movie coming in April of next year.  No longer a pizza face and no longer Robert Englund, I guess that’s old news but it still stings.  We saw the trailer and I had to admit it looked to have some great looking cinematography, but who knows what these no name kids will say when screen time hits that makes me want to hurl, having said that, I would be totally surprised if one of the attractive female leads is a spoiled brat, that’s just not in the cards for every other horror movie ever made.  Digressing…

trailer for a nightmare on elm street

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

New Line Cinema has revealed the teaser trailer for A Nightmare on Elm Street which I have to say, looks pretty impressive.  The money shot at the end left me wondering if that is Freddy’s face throughout the film or just after a nasty…fall?  Directed by Samuel Bayer, the April 30th release stars Jackie Earle Haley as the new Freddy Krueger who some may remember from LITTLE CHILDREN…also playing a pedophile.  Also, if you check out his IMDB you might also notice the guy was MIA from 1993 to 2006.  What’s up with that?  Jump for the trailer! (If it lags for a few seconds, it’s the fault of something called MySpace)

One, two, Freddy's coming for you...

One, two, Freddy's coming for you...

Jackie Earle Haley (Rorschach from Watchmen) as Freddy might just be the best casting call since Shia Labeouf as a sweaty teen.  This is the first official look at Freddy, who is being resurrected next April for a new Nightmare on Elm Street movie, the first without Robert Englund and Wes Craven, he says they left him out of production too.  Pic thanks to MySpace (hey I remember that site!).

Update #1 – Check out this cool banner [shocktillyoudrop]
Update #2 – High res banner after the jump below. [IGN]
Update #3 - Another pic of Freddy (soon I promise)
