Ricky Gervais

So Ricky Gervais Week is over, until next year right?  Well no, because I don’t think a week goes past here in the City of Films where we don’t post some bit of news from the world of Ricky, so rejoice!  Please visit Ricky’s honest and hilarious blog daily for updates otherwise.  Below I have compiled most if not all the top stories we have on Gervais, it might take up most of your afternoon if you’re not careful: (more…)

Ricky Gervais

RICKY GERVAIS WEEK is over, gutted.  I hope you had fun catching up with Ricky Gervais and the gang as much as I have.  Please visit Ricky’s honest and hilarious blog daily for updates.  The City of Films has dedicated a lot of time to Gervais, and it never gets boring.  There are many resources out there to get your Ricky fix, may I recommend a few?  The Office, Extras, The Ricky Gervais Show (podcast and HBO series), Ghost Town and Cemetery Junction.  Need more?  He was in an episode of Alias you could watch.

Ricky Gervais is an idol of mine, someone I look up to and who inspires me.  He is one of the smartest people I have come across in a long time – I would love to one day just have a chat with him about life.  The man has an extensive knowledge of the world whose ideas I find often reflect my own, it’s a great feeling.  As a fan I can only do my best to share with you the reasons that you too should appreciate the work of Ricky Gervais, his sense of humor and honesty above are often hard to come by with “celebrities”.  He makes it look easy.

He created, wrote, directed and starred in The Office, Extras.  Guest starred in Alias and 24.  Wrote and starred in The Simpson.  Lent his voice to GTA 4, SpongeBob and popped up in both Night at the Museum films and Stardust with Robert De Niro (his hero).  He starred in Ghost Town, made his directorial debut with The Invention of lying.  He finished his work on his collaboration with long time friend Stephen Merchant on their film Cemetery Junction – these just off the top of my head.  He makes his rounds doesn’t he?  Enjoy…

Gervias’ Flanimals

Saturday, May 15th, 2010

flanimalGervais released a children’s book in 2004 entitled Flanimals. Following the success of this book, he released sequels; More Flanimals, Flanimals of the Deep and a new pop-up book.

A major CGI-type movie produced by Chris Meledandri (The Simpsons Movie and Ice Age) is in the works.  Ricky said “I’m very excited because I’ll probably be the part of the Puddloflag. It will be weird to hear my voice coming out of a short, fat, purple, sweaty creature (with a Reading accent).”

Ricky Gervais Week Begins

Sunday, May 9th, 2010

Ricky Gervais Week is here! If you are frequent to the site then you know how much we love Ricky.  Everything he does really, so yes there will be a bias this week and we are going to have fun.  I plan on cramming as much Gervais information as possible; everything will be here, from his early days in a pop band to what he had for dinner this evening.

He’s been and idol and inspiration to me for many years now and I just don’t think enough people really get Ricky.  I don’t want that to sound arrogant – but if you don’t think Ricky Gervais is the best thing in the world, you’re wrong.  Ricky Gervais Week begins now.

*Editors Note* We will have regular news too.  If we must.

Week fifty-five – January 2009

Did a bit more work on The Flanimals pop-up book. The content is nearly finished but the hard bit is engineering the poppy-upness of it all. It should be out by October though.

Worked on the storyboard for the audiobook animation. It’s a difficult one because even though it will reach a whole new audience on TV you don’t want to disappoint the people who know the audio intimately and may have formulated strong ideas about how things might look in their heads. But all you can do is do what you think is funny.

Looks like This Side of the Truth will be out in September in the US by the way.

(There has been quite a bit of false info floating around. I keep seeing that it’s out in March and that it’s called “Invention of Lying”, “The Truth about Lying” “This Side of Truth”… etc.)

Took one of the worst and most ridiculous (and therefore best) photos of me ever last night.

It will feature in my exclusive blog article “Ricky’s letter from America”. Coming soon.

Off to L.A. for a few days now.
Missing New York already.
