There’s something for everyone on HBO if you ask me. Take a look at the latest trailers for two of their best shows, very different. Get ready for an all new season of Eastbound & Down, premiering Sunday, February 19. Game of Thrones begins season 2 on April 1st, and HBO has released the new season’s most explicit trailer to date.
Everyone loves movie trailers; we can’t get enough of them here in The City of Films. It’s an art form that stands alone from the film itself and has a remarkable power to move us. Trailers can give us chills, laughs, goose bumps and some even anger us. We can’t always post them all, so here’s where we play catch up; watch More Trailers:
Eastbound & Down – Season 3 Premiering Sunday, February 19 on HBO
Deadline has reported on the HBO premiere schedule and it’s good, obviously. Returning for one final turn at bat, Danny McBride in Eastbound & Down will air on February 19th. Right after that awesome show, we have Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s Life’s Too Short (check out all our coverage). I’ve been a big fan of Eastbound & Down since the beginning, and waiting over a year between seasons hasn’t been easy. It will be sad to see them go. I have been watching Life’s Too Short and will likely end up watching it again when it finally airs on HBO. It’s a solid return to TV for the comedy team, and Warwick Davis will likely get a deserving Emmy or Glob nomination here.
Eastbound & Down is heading for season 3, but after that, star and all around righteous dude Danny McBride says that’s it. According to Deadline, the star of the HBO comedy said during the show’s panel at PaleyFest that the series’ third season, which is filming now, will be its last. There’s been no official word from HBO on the series’ future since renewing it for Season 3 back in October, the network has said it wants the show to stick around as long as McBride and producers Will Ferrell and Adam McKay want to do it. Don’t be fu**ing Out out Eastbound, don’t be fu**ing out!
Note: It’s all subject to change. Updates will be made accordingly. Any omissions are probably for the best.
Here’s a look at some of the goods coming from HBO this year, it’s not a definite list so check your local listings and or HBO for more. So gone are the days of The Wire, The Sopranos and Six Feet Under – and here are the days of great returning shows and mini-series events of 2011, let’s take a look. (more…)
There isn’t much more we can say about this show. It seems every week we have a piece on it [see them here]. Here is finally a lengthier look at what Season 2 will hold for Kenny Powders. Behold:
Not a lot to say here, it was a very funny 1st season of Eastbound & Down and I’ve told you before to watch it. So if you haven’t or won’t – then I don’t know what else to do really. Please? Eastbound and Down stars Danny McBride as blowhard, jerk-off, has-been pitcher Kenny Powers. The new short TV spot gives us our first look at Kenny Powers cruising through Mexico on a motor scooter like the bad-ass we all know and love. See the promo after the jump. (more…)
Eastbound and Down stars Danny McBride as Kenny Powers, a washed up major league baseball player who returns to his hometown to be a substitute teacher at his former middle school. This season we’ll see Kenny Powers hiding in Mexico where he’ll join a local baseball team. I’ve said it many times on this site that if you have no yet seen any of the first season (6 episodes) it is highly recommended. You will laugh lots and there are even some tender moments, alright maybe just one.
HBO has released a very brief teaser trailer for Eastbound & Down. The hilarious comedy, which stars Danny McBride as washed-up baseball pitcher Kenny Powers, returns this September. The second season will focus on Danny McBride’s character, Kenny Powers, moving from North Carolina to Mexico.Michael Pena and Ana de la Reguera have recently joined the cast.
In the first season finale, Powers (McBride) quit his phys-ed teaching job for an offer to join the Tampa Bay Rays but, after the offer fell through, he dumped his girlfriend and was last seen driving away with a worried look on his face. Enter Mexico. If you have no idea what this show is, find the first season. There is 6 episodes and the build up and hilarity is just perfect. Watch the first episode intro here for even more!
Deadline got their hands on some exclusive details regarding the second season of HBO’s Eastbound & Down, finally is all I have to say. But here’s more anyways:
The setting will move from North Carolina to Mexico, with Michael Pena (Dennis from Observe and Report, who you might recall fled America in a raffle car for Mexico) and Ana de la Reguera (the Nun from Nacho Libre) are joining the cast. In the first season finale, former professional baseball pitcher Kenny Powers (Danny McBride) quit his physical ed teaching job for an offer to join the Tampa Bay Rays but, after the offer fell through, he dumped his girlfriend and was last seen driving away with a worried look on his face. In Season 2, hiding from his problems, Kenny finds himself in Mexico where he joins a local baseball team.
Pena will play Kenny’s friend and owner of the baseball team he joins. De la Reguera will play Kenny’s love interest in Mexico. Casting is underway for the role of Kenny’s father (just put Will Ferrell in makeup). Production starts next month! It’s really happening!
