It is time. Here is the theatrical trailer for Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated finale to his Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises. We get all new footage so even if you saw the prologue in IMAX (how awesome was that?) then you still have something to watch. Gotham looks to have changed since we last left it some 8 years ago (in the story), “this is peace time” we’re told…so maybe that’s why Bane is striking now, and holy hell does he strike. “When Gotham is Ashes, You Have My Permission To Die” = CHILLS.
The trailer gives nothing away, as great trailers do. This is one for the books. Check out the trailer below:

Kees Van Dijkhuizen has another montage to share with us [see his other 'films of' here] this time focusing on the films of Christopher Nolan. Watch the great video below which will only get you more excited for The Dark Knight Rises, nothing wrong with that.
After hundreds of requests, one of the most visionary, iconic and successful filmmakers of our generation has finally gotten the [the films of] treatment. Christopher Nolan’s films have kept anyone of us on the edge of their seat. Every film is filled with secrets, surprises, twists and turns, and only a true movie mastermind could keep even the biggest film nut fooled until the very last minute. They’re films that demand a second, third and fourth viewing. Christopher Nolan is a perfect example of traditional filmmaking with modern twists, and is a fine addition to a series already filled to the brink with inspiring artists.

The Dark Knight Rises July 20th 2012, we have seen a teaser trailer, set pictures and heard various rumors about the film. So it’s nice to hear it from a true source, those behind the project. The new issue of Empire magazine has photos (see below via SHH) and some background on the story.
Nolan reveals that the story picks up eight years after the events in The Dark Knight:
“It’s really all about finishing Batman and Bruce Wayne’s story. We left him in a very precarious place. Perhaps surprisingly for some people, our story picks up quite a bit later, eight years after ‘The Dark Knight.’ So he’s an older Bruce Wayne; he’s not in a great state. With Bane, we’re looking to give Batman a challenge he hasn’t had before. With our choice of villain and with our choice of story we’re testing Batman both physically as well as mentally.”
Tom Hardy on that Bane:
“brutal. He’s a big dude who’s incredibly clinical, in the fact that he has a result-based and oriented fighting style. It’s not about fighting. It’s about carnage. The style is heavy-handed, heavy-footed, it’s nasty. Anything from small-joint manipulation to crushing skulls, crushing rib cages, stamping on shins and knees and necks and collarbones and snapping heads off and tearing his fists through chests, ripping out spinal columns. He is a terrorist in mentality as well as brutal action.”
Lindy Hemming (Costume designer) talked about Bane’s mask:
“He was injured early in his story. He’s suffering from pain and needs gas to survive. He can’t survive the pain without the mask. The pipes from the mask go back along his jawline and feed into the thing at his back, where there are two cannisters.”
Check out the images below and get excited.

Stop whatever you’re doing and watch the two video essay’s below. Chaos Cinema – The Decline and Fall of Action Filmmaking is a visual guide to what everyone already knows; action today just isn’t the same. In the new video essay published on Indiewire’s Press Play page, Los Angeles scholar and filmmaker Matthias Stork has put together a two part 18 minute look at the action in films we see today and compares it to the action style of filmmaking from decades ago. Oh how times have changed, and whether you agree with it or not it’s an impressive look at history.

Here’s your first official look at Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle a.k.a Catwoman in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises. Not what I was expecting but I can’t fault Nolan for not going campy with his realistic character adaptations. “Ice to see you” is something we could do without right? This may not be the final Catwoman costume some are saying, as it does look homemade, so maybe it gets tighter later is what the boys out there should keep in mind. Also the image was released on the official Dark Knight Rises website titled “selina_kyle”.
Yesterday, we got our first look at Henry Cavill as Superman in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel that you can see here if you missed it. This is what Tom Hardy looks like as Bane (unofficial set picture). And here is where you can catch up on all of our Dark Knight Rises news.
The Dark Knight Rises opens July 20, 2012.

If there’s one thing you should keep in mind while watching a Christopher Nolan film it’s that he will stay away from CGI as much as he can. It makes for a better looking movie that’s for sure. The great looking scene in The Dark Knight where the semi truck flips over, no computers there folks. If you saw Inception, you should know the amazing Corridor fight sequence was also done the old fashioned way. The scene looked incredible and was very complicated to film and get it just right. Watch How They Filmed the Inception Corridor Scene below:
