A Look At The New Back To The Future Video Game
Thursday, September 2nd, 2010In June, it was announced that Telltale Games was developing a series of new episodic video games based off the Jurassic Park and Back to the Future movie franchises, in a deal with NBC Universal. We have a couple new updates, including our first look at concept art for the Back to the Future game.
I will be the first one to defend BTTF in everything it does, but I have no faith in this whatsoever. It’s coming out this winter and we have no screen shots or real news about it? Me thinks it’s going to be cheaply produced and just using voices and props from a film isn’t enough to satisfy any serious gamer or movie lover. I have a Wii and PS3 and I can’t imagine either systems showing me a well made Back to the Future game, and I hate myself for thinking it.
I can see however this being a small downloadable game, Telltale Games is kind of known for that (Monkey’s Island and Sam & Max games. They have produced games based on Wallace & Gromit, Homestar Runner and Tales of Monkey Island.)
What we know so far:
- The game will include characters Marty McFly and Doc Brown.
- Christopher Lloyd will also provide his voice for the games.
- Back to the Future series screenwriter Bob Gale is working with the game developers on the story
- They are planning five “episodes”.
- It will be set in the fictional California setting of Hill Valley, and will explore 1985 and additional time periods.

Monday, August 30th, 2010Back To The Future Trilogy Blu-Ray Trailer
Thursday, August 26th, 2010
The Back to the Future trilogy is finally coming to Blu-Ray on October 26th 2010. Here’s the trailer for the 25th Anniversary Special edition.
Writer/Producer Bob Gale had this to say about the conversion: The HD transfers for all three films are simply breath-taking, they actually look better than they did in the theater because of the incredible job that was done on dirt clean-up. (And the film grain is preserved, so they still look like movies should look.)
We listed all the specs for the DVD and Blu-Ray here. You can get your copy ordered with savings at Amazon here (.ca) and here (.com). I got mine and felt better about myself, don’t you want the same? (more…)
BTTF Re-Release Poster, Trailer And A Timeline Yeah Why Not
Thursday, August 12th, 2010Thankfully for the time being (and I hope in my lifetime) Back to the Future will continue to be one of the few movie properties that remains untarnished. We don’t need an animated movie, a prequel or a re-imagining gone wrong. We have a brand new DVD and Blu-ray release (includes a new 6-part retrospective documentary) planned for October, and it’s even returning to theaters – unfortunately for those of us in North America, the re-release will only be happening overseas.
According to Empire Magazine, the original Back to the Future will return to cinemas in the U.K. on October 1st. The 25th Anniversary DVD and Blu-ray set will then arrive in stores on October 26th. Someone find me a facebook group to join to get this movie a worldwide re-release. The trailer for said re-release is below. Sad face. Oh and some nerd named Sean Mort decided one night to make an easy to follow BTTF Timeline, very detailed sir. Trailer [here] & Timeline [here]
The Back to the Future Trilogy Blu-Ray Is Coming
Monday, June 28th, 2010On October 26, 1985, Marty McFly took the driver’s seat in Dr. Emmet Brown’s DeLorean and introduced audiences to Back to the Future. Exactly twenty five years to the day since Marty McFly first sped off in Doc’s Time Machine in the parking lot of the Twin Pines Mall towards 1955, Universal Studios Home Entertainment will release the 25th Anniversary Back to the Future Trilogy Boxed Set on DVD — and for the very first time on Blu-ray Disc — Tuesday, October 26, 2010! This highly anticipated 25th Anniversary collection features all-new restorations for enhanced picture quality and hours of bonus features including new interviews with the cast and crew. And yes, finally, film footage of Eric Stoltz as Marty McFly!
In an exclusive interview with BTTF.com, Back to the Future Writer/Producer Bob Gale gave a sneak peek into what we can expect from these brand new features: “The HD transfers for all three films are simply breath-taking,” Gale told BTTF.com. “They actually look better than they did in the theater because of the incredible job that was done on dirt clean-up. (And the film grain is preserved, so they still look like movies should look.) And hearing the sound in full dynamic range is — okay, I’ll say it — a blast!”
He went on to describe the new documentaries, (more…)
Back To The Future Was Way Off
Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010In his defense, future Marty McFly smoked six packs a day and the daily strain of double neckties really did a number on his back.

A Back To The Future Video Game? Great Scott!
Wednesday, June 9th, 2010A movie turned video game is always a gamble, I can’t recall one that looked that it had some actual work put into it rather than something made at video game camp for kidz (that a real thing?).
Telltale Games (a list of works here) announced it has signed a multi-year, two-title deal with Universal Partnerships & Licensing to develop games from the Back to the Future and Jurassic Park properties.
The first title to be released under this agreement will be a Telltale Games “season” game based off the Back to the Future films. The game is scheduled for release this winter, followed shortly by Jurassic Park. Whoa, give us some screen shots already. Someone made box art already, now that’s a fan.
“For Back to the Future and Jurassic Park we will leverage Telltale’s expertise in story-telling and game design to deliver on the unique elements of each series with our goal being to create compelling cinematic adventures paying homage to each franchise.”
