Peter Jackson gave everyone a “Christmas Treat” on his Facebook page in the form of a new production video from the New Zealand set of The Hobbit.  If the trailer [watch here] wasn’t enough, this in-depth video give Hobbit fans a great look into the “the logistics of location shooting”, it’s worth a watch.

The first of the two Hobbit films, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, will be released December 14th, 2012 and The Hobbit: There and Back Again on December 13th, 2013.

It’s clear thatPeter Jackson loves his audience and has a lot of fun making these movies.  The man has 3 video blogs for you to watch below where he shares some a nice behind the scenes look at the production of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey that will be released on December 14, 2012The Hobbit: There and Back Again, will be released the following year, on December 13, 2013.

Peter Jackson will direct both film parts consecutively in digital 3D.  The screenplays for the films are by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, Guillermo del Toro and Peter Jackson.

Most of the needed cast from the LOTR Trilogy is returning; Ian McKellen returns as Gandalf the Grey, Martin Freeman will take on the role of Bilbo Baggins, Cate Blanchett as Galadriel; Orlando Bloom as Legolas; Ian Holm as the elder Bilbo; Christopher Lee as Saruman; Hugo Weaving as Elrond; Elijah Wood as Frodo; and Andy Serkis as Gollum.
