City of Films

I could not have been older than 10 the first time I watched Psycho.  I remember the night well.  I went to an old video store Sneak Peak or some such place.  It was the size of an average rec-room, but this place had it all.  What I would later refer to as “master sections” – where they arranged sections by artist; Woody Allen, Orson Welles and yes, Alfred Hitchcock.  I went to this store knowing they would have it, and that night they did.  I went home with a VHS copy of what I would soon learn to be one of the best movies ever made. It even had the hard plastic case!  Oh what an age we lived in.

After watching the film I decided upon myself to become a recluse film snob, only watching old ‘classics’.  That lasted about a week, because I watched A Farewell to Arms (1957) and hated it.  So here we are, many years later and I still consider Psycho to be one of the finest films ever made, you heard of it?  Go rent it, OR get this: (more…)
