Just over a year ago we were talking about The Wolf of Wall Street and how it would reunite Martin Scorsese with Leonardo DiCaprio, nothing wrong with that now is there? Scorsese stepped away from the project but now Deadline reports he is ready to get back in the saddle and shooting is set to begin in August. The Wolf of Wall Street follows a script is by Boardwalk Empire producer Terence Winter based on the memoir of the same name by Jordan Belfort.
Belfort’s memoir follows his days as a hard partying, drug addicted stockbroker who was indicted in 1998 for security fraud and money laundering and served a 22-month federal prison stretch. Read more about him and his tale of financial woe in his Wiki page.
FYI: This would be their fifth collaboration after The Aviator, Gangs of New York, The Departed and Shutter Island.

Yesterday we showed you the trailer for Mel Gibson’s latest Get the Gringo which he co-wrote and starred in. Deadline also had a little news about the long talked about Viking epic Gibson has been planning for years. The good news is that the movie is still alive.
[Gibson's] Icon label is developing an epic period Viking film that Gibson will direct, and which his Braveheart writer Randall Wallace has just turned in a second script draft. And Gibson and Joe Eszterhas are writing for Warner Bros an epic drama about Jewish warrior Judah Maccabee, who teamed with his father and four brothers to lead the Jewish revolt against the Greek-Syrian armies that had conquered Judea in the second century B.C. Gibson will likely direct that film as well, which is also being produced through Icon. [Deadline]
People are more focused on the Judah Maccabee film obviously as Mel Gibson has some people thinking he’s an anti-Semite. But let’s put that all aside for one moment and remember how great Mel Gibson is behind the camera, especially when it comes to epics like Braveheart, The Passion of the Christ, and Apocalypto. I want this movie to happen.
Leonardo DiCaprio was once attached to the Viking film, but who knows what’s going on now with casting options. Stay tuned.

Here is the trailer for James Cameron’s 3D release of Titanic. The film will be released on April 6 in 3D and IMAX 3D theaters. Titanic is the second-highest grossing movie of all time behind Cameron’s other film Avatar. Titanic won Best Picture and Best Director at the Academy Awards. And yes, inaccuracies aside I enjoyed this movie a whole lot, no irony.
I don’t think I need to go on about the plot here, but I will share a scary thought: Gwyneth Paltrow was up for the role of Rose and Matthew McConaughey for Jack. Who else just shuddered? The film is sure to hit Blu-ray around the same time, might be a good time to put away the double VHS you still have.
Watch the trailer below:

Leonardo DiCaprio (a favorite around here) is attached to star in a feature film adaptation of the Don Winslow written novel Satori. DiCaprio will play a Westerner named Nicholai Hel in the story who is raised in Japan and taught the skills of an assassin. The script is being written by Shane Salerno (Shaft, Armageddon).
Deadline shared a detailed run down of the story: Hel was “raised in Japan by a martial arts expert and genius at Go, the complex chess-like Japanese game. The master, a Japanese general, passes on all his secrets and the student repays him by murdering his mentor as an act of devotion; the military leader would have been disgraced and killed as a war criminal. For that act, Hel is thrown in solitary confinement in a Tokyo prison, and tortured for three years. He is finally sprung by the CIA after agreeing to assassinate the Soviet commissioner to China. We have the first trailer for Clint Eastwood’s next film J. Edgar, and it looks as good as I had hoped (it made my top 5 to see for the fall/holiday season). Leonardo DiCaprio, Naomi Watts, Judi Dench, Armie Hammer, Josh Lucas and Ken Howard are all here for Eastwood.
DiCaprio stars, Eastwood directs and Dustin Lance Black (Milk) wrote the script. I can’t wait to see how DiCaprio and Eastwood work together; Scorsese as we know would have nothing but great things to show for their collaborations together. Watch out for this one.
The film is set to be released on November 9th 2011. Watch the trailer below:

Deadline reports that Leonardo DiCaprio is attached to star in a remake of the 1974 James Caan movie The Gambler. The drama is about an “academic whose gambling addiction begins to get the best of him. His gambling addiction got to the point where he convinces a student athlete to shave points so he can win a bet, and the high he experiences from risking everything takes him into even darker places.” The new script is being penned by William Monahan (The Departed) and Martin Scorsese is said to be directing. Excuse me for being skeptical about this project ever happening, but check this:

Quentin Tarantino returns with Django Unchained and is giving his latest work a Christmas 2012 release date [BOM]. Jackie Brown was released Christmas Day 1997 for people keeping score. The Unchained cast is still coming together, and what we know so far of the plot is that Django Unchained is a spaghetti Western about a former Southern slave who attempts to rescue his wife from a cruel plantation owner, now that’s a family Christmas movie!
Leonardo DiCaprio is rumored to be in talks for the role of the evil slave owner, while Christoph Waltz, who QT masterfully cast in Inglourious Basterds, is expected to play a bounty hunter. Samuel L. Jackson will narrate or play piano in a bar I’m sure.
