The Dark Knight Rises Casts Joseph Gordon-Levitt

February 2nd, 2011 by Graham McMorrow

joseph gordon-levittJoseph Gordon-Levitt has long been rumoured to be part of The Dark Knight Rises, many thinking he would take on the role of The Riddler.  Well, this is partly true now, Levitt is in talks to play an unspecified role in the sequel.  “I’m not sure what role he’ll play, but I’m told that he will be in the movie when Nolan starts production this spring,” according to Deadline.

Gordon-Levitt joins his fellow Inception alum Tom Hardy (who’s been cast as Bane) and Micheal Caine (who reprises his Alfred role).  Christopher Nolan has said that Riddler won’t be in the film, so could he be playing a different villain?  With Bane and Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman) already announced, it seems unlikely that the film would involve a third villain.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been on my radar for a few years now, I always thought he could hold his own and he certainly proved that taking the lead role in (500) Days of Summer.  Since then his status has been on the rise.  This April, we’ll see Levitt teaming up with Natalie Portman in Hesher. Later this year, Levitt will battle cancer in the comedy Live With It. Next year he’ll join Bruce Willis in the futuristic mob film Looper, and headline the David Koepp (Ghost Town) thriller Premium Rush.
