So originally this article was going to be a post about my night out at the archaic gathering known as the ‘Drive-In’. I wondered, what caused the Drive-In to disappear from North American prevalence? It seemed like a charming idea, at a good price ($8 for a double feature), and a different way to see a movie. The last time I had been to a Drive-In was when I was 9 years old, to the Flintstones movie. While I remember the movie being pretty boring, I have no memory of my experience with the theater itself. So how did the Drive-In hold up to my 2010 standards? Let’s take a look at the night in question and come to a verdict.

Helping Stomach The Drive-In?
One thing I do remember, were car searches, no outside food or beverage. It seemed ridiculous for a theater attendant to regulate this with a carload of people, but that was not my concern as a 9 year old. So we (myself and Mrs. District attorney) decided to partake in some sushi prior to our rendezvous at the Drive-In. What does this have to do with the movies? Nothing, but it was delicious.
Next we move onto the Drive-In, we pull up to a sign straight out of the seventies, guiding us into the parking area. The area had a certain dated charm, and appeared to be a total blast from the past. As we pull up we notice a sign informing us that we must have our own AM radio. Well, we have a car stereo that tunes to an AM frequency, and the website (yes, they had a website), didn’t mention a requirement for a specific equipment. “Two for Inception please, and do I require any specific equipment to hear the movie, as we just have the AM tuner in our car stereo.” The weathered, yet friendly attendant informed us that all we need to do was flag down an attendant to help hook up the wire to our internal radio antenna. I pondered this briefly, but was quickly hustled along as there were vehicles quickly gathering behind me. Before I could take off she beamed at me, “Tonight is a double feature, Twilight Eclipse will be following Inception this evening.” Yipee.

I have never been to a drive-in. I can't imagine it being too great, especially if you have a cracked windshield or it rains. Do you park under a little cover or something?
