Oscar nominee Amy Adams (The Fighter, Doubt, Junebug) has been cast as Lois Lane in the Superman reboot, Superman: Man of Steel. The film to be directed by Zack Snyder has already cast Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent and Diane Lane as Martha Kent.
Zack Snyder, revealed to the Los Angeles Times that Adams received the news Sunday. “It goes back to what I’ve said about Superman and making him really understandable for today. What’s important to us is making him relevant and real and making him empathetic to today’s audience so that we understand the decisions he makes. That applies to Lois as well. She has to be in the same universe as him [in tone and substance],” said Snyder.
Much like the prior casting with this Superman reboot, this one is good. We are looking at a solid cast, well known yes, but somewhat subtle if you ask me. There is still some major casting to be done before the film begins shooting later this year for a December 2012 release, the villain, General Zod for starters. Viggo Mortensen, Michael Shannon and Edgar Ramirez have all been rumored for the role. Here’s hoping that the great Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road, Boardwalk Empire) is involved somehow.
