Steven Spielberg Gives TINTIN Sequel Update
The Adventures of Tintin was a huge hit around the world ($371M) securing what was was always the plan if it were, that a sequel will be made.
Also in the plan was for Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson to take turns directing the films while the other produced. Spielberg recently gave an update to Total Film on the sequel, confirming that the plan is for Jackson to shoot the sequel this summer after he finishes The Hobbit.
“Peter [Jackson]’s doing it. I wanted to do it, but Peter has to because we made a deal. I said, ‘I’ll direct the first one, you direct the second one.’ And Peter, of course, is going to do it right after he finishes photography on The Hobbit. He’ll go right into the 31, 21 days of performance capture.”
As to what story from Tintin they will be going with this time, (some are thinking The Calculus Affair), Spielberg said:
“We haven’t decided that yet. She’s throwing a monkey wrench into your story! It could be that. I like The Calculus Affair. So it could be. We have completed a story outline now. We have a writer on it. I’m just not declaring what it is. It will be more than one book, but no more than two.”
Our very own artist Kevin told me last week that he enjoyed Tintin, and from what others are saying, most were also pleasantly surprised. All we can do it wait on more details on the sequel, stay tuned.
