Here is the first shot of Russell Brand for the upcoming remake of Arthur. The original movie that starred Dudley Moore is actually really funny, I still prefer Santa Clause: The Movie to any of his work, but I don’t have taste. Arthur is a wealthy drunk playboy who is set to inherit a fortune if he marries an heiress (played by Jennifer Garner) his family thinks will make something out of him. Helen Mirren will play Arthur’s long-time nanny, who replaces the valet character from the original film.
Russell Brand doesn’t get enough credit; he’s easily one of the funniest and smartest comedians/actors today. His book by the way is a bit of terrific, and his stand-up is top notch. There is still hope for a Drop Dead Fred remake!
