Stuck with nothing but a seedy gumshoe job and some demons, Dwight’s thinking of all the ways he’s screwed up and what he’d give for one clear chance to wipe the slate clean, to dig his way out of the numb gray hell that is his life. And he’d give anything. Just to feel the fire. One more time. But he can’t let himself lose control again, can’t ever let the monster out. And then Ava calls. With a new look generating more excitement than ever before, this third edition is the perfect way to attract a whole new generation of readers to Frank Miller’s masterpiece!

Opening this year is The Wachowskis’ and Tom Tykwer’s adaptation of Cloud Atlas, from the concept art [see and see] alone it looks like it’s going to end up a monster of a movie.  The finished film is reported to run at 2-hours and 44-minutes.  You can see it in theaters on December 6, the film stars Tom Hanks, Hugo Weaving, Halle Berry, Hugh Grant, Susan Sarandon, Jim Sturgess, Ben Whishaw, Keith David and Jim Broadbent.

A reluctant voyager crossing the Pacific in 1850; a disinherited composer blagging a precarious livelihood in between-the-wars Belgium; a high-minded journalist in Governor Reagan’s California; a vanity publisher fleeing his gangland creditors; a genetically modified “dinery server” on death-row; and Zachry, a young Pacific Islander witnessing the nightfall of science and civilisation — the narrators of Cloud Atlas hear each other’s echoes down the corridor of history, and their destinies are changed in ways great and small.
