It’s safe to say at this point that Michael Moore makes very entertaining documentaries. Under the opinionated blanket he puts over his films, there is always very unique and underlying message that he shares that most filmmakers dare not touch. As you can imagine a lot of Americans are pissed right now about how the financial situation in their country came to be. If only someone would make a movie to “capitalize” on this current situation. Oh wait…
In his latest documentary Michael Moore will take a look at to global capitalism, in the freshly now titled CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY. He will explore the causes of the economic meltdown in what he calls “the biggest robbery in the history of this country” – the transfer of U.S. taxpayer money to private financial institutions.
On why he chose to make a ‘love story,’ Moore stated that it was time for him to make a ‘relationship movie.’ “It will be the perfect date movie,” said Moore. “It’s got it all — lust, passion, romance, and 14,000 jobs being eliminated every day. It’s a forbidden love, one that dare not speak its name. Heck, let’s just say it: It’s Capitalism.”
I hope Gordon Gekko doesn’t have a date already. The Doc opens October 2nd, 2009.
Extra Tidbit: The film’s release date is exactly one year and a day after the U.S. Senate voted to approve a $700 billion bailout of Wall Street.
